Sunghoon

Sunghoon woke up the next morning and immediately reached for his phone. He scrolled through his messages, only to find no new ones from Nari. Usually, she bombarded him with texts, and she had promised to call him during her lunch break or maybe after. But there was nothing.

He brushed it off, thinking she was just a bit busy. But as the day went on, the silence felt like a weight on his chest. He left her a text: "Hey, how's it going? Miss you." He went about his day, feeling empty without a call from her, and eventually went to sleep, hoping for a response in the morning.

When he woke up, he finally saw a message from her. "Just busy with work," it read.

This pattern continued for a few days. Sunghoon was getting worried about the growing distance. Every time he called, she was too busy to talk. It was driving him crazy.

One night, he decided he couldn't take it anymore. He called her, and to his surprise, she picked up.

"Hey," he started, trying to keep his tone calm. "What's going on, Nari? You've been so distant."

"Sunghoon, I'm just really swamped with work," Nari replied, sounding exhausted.

"I get that, but you can't even spare five minutes to talk to me? This is bullshit," he snapped.

"Don't you think I know that?!" Nari shot back. "I'm doing the best I can here, but it's not like I'm sitting around doing nothing. I'm working my ass off."

"I'm not asking for much, Nari. Just a few minutes of your time. Is that too fucking hard?"

"Yes, it is!" she shouted. "I'm under so much pressure here. I barely have time to breathe, let alone chat on the phone."

"Maybe you should take a fucking break then," Sunghoon said, his voice rising. "You're going to burn yourself out."

"You think I don't know that? But I can't just stop. I have responsibilities, deadlines. Not everyone can drop everything and move across the world for their relationship."

"Don't you dare turn this around on me," Sunghoon growled. "I moved because I wanted to be with you. But if you're too busy for me now, what's the fucking point?"

"Oh, come on, Sunghoon. Don't be such a drama queen. I'm trying my best here," Nari retorted, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"This isn't about being dramatic, Nari. It's about feeling like I'm losing you," he said, his voice softer but still angry.

"You're not losing me," she snapped. "I'm just fucking busy!"

"Well, maybe you should find some time for the person you supposedly love," Sunghoon shot back, his frustration boiling over.

"Maybe you should stop being so fucking needy," Nari replied, her voice cold.

There was a long, tense silence. Both of them were breathing heavily, anger coursing through their veins.

"Fine," Sunghoon finally said, his voice trembling with rage. "If that's how you feel, maybe we should take a break. Figure out what the hell we really want."

"Maybe we should," Nari replied, equally angry.

"Fine," he repeated, and before she could respond, he hung up.

He stared at his phone, his heart pounding. The room felt unbearably quiet. He wanted to throw his phone against the wall, scream, anything to release the frustration. Instead, he sat down, head in his hands, feeling a mix of anger and sorrow. He wondered if they could fix this or if their relationship was starting to crumble under the weight of their busy lives.

Nari felt like she was drowning. The stress of her job had always been intense, but lately, it seemed unbearable. Ever since the argument with Sunghoon, things had only gotten worse. She regretted their fight deeply, and the guilt gnawed at her, making it even harder to focus on her work.

She sat at her desk, piles of paperwork surrounding her, her laptop screen filled with unanswered emails and unfinished reports. Her head throbbed from lack of sleep, and her eyes burned from staring at the screen for hours on end. Her usually tidy workspace was now cluttered with empty coffee cups, snack wrappers, and hastily scribbled notes.

Her colleagues had noticed the change in her. Normally upbeat and cheerful, Nari had become withdrawn and irritable. She snapped at them over minor mistakes, and her once bright smile had faded into a constant look of fatigue.

The workload was relentless. Deadlines loomed over her like a dark cloud, and no matter how much she worked, it never seemed to lessen. She found herself working late into the night, barely having time to eat or rest. Her phone buzzed constantly with work-related notifications, each one a reminder of how much she still had to do.

The stress was taking a toll on her health. She had developed headaches that wouldn't go away, her stomach churned with anxiety, and her heart felt heavy with the regret of her fight with Sunghoon. She missed him terribly, but every time she thought about calling him to apologize, she hesitated. What if he didn't want to hear from her? What if he had already moved on?

Her cat, Luna, was her only comfort. The small, fluffy creature seemed to sense her distress and would curl up next to her, purring softly. But even Luna's presence couldn't fill the void that Sunghoon's absence had left.

One evening, as she sat hunched over her desk, Nari felt a wave of nausea wash over her. She leaned back, pressing a hand to her forehead. She couldn't keep going like this. She knew she needed a break, but the thought of taking time off seemed impossible. There was just too much to do.

Her thoughts drifted back to Sunghoon. She remembered the way he used to tease her, his warm smile, the way he held her close when she was feeling down. Tears welled up in her eyes as she realized how much she missed him. She regretted the harsh words she had said during their fight. She wanted to call him, to tell him how sorry she was, but she was scared. Scared that he might not forgive her.

Finally, Nari couldn't take it anymore. She grabbed her phone and dialed his number, her hands trembling. She needed to hear his voice, to tell him how much she regretted everything. But as the phone rang, she felt a knot of anxiety tighten in her chest. What if he didn't pick up?

The ringing seemed to go on forever, each second stretching into an eternity. Nari's heart pounded in her chest, and she felt tears streaming down her cheeks. She needed him now more than ever.
