Nari
Nari's senses slowly stirred her awake—the faint sound of singing, warm sunlight streaming through the curtains, and the delicious aroma of something sweet wafting through the air. She blinked groggily, adjusting to the morning light as a sleepy smile crept across her face. It didn't take long for her to realize what day it was—her birthday. And judging by the hushed melody and smell of pancakes, she had a strong suspicion Sunghoon was up to something.
She stretched lazily under the covers, her body still basking in the warmth of the bed. The scent of vanilla and caramelized sugar grew stronger, pulling her fully awake. Curiosity got the best of her, so she slipped out of bed, her feet padding softly against the wooden floor as she made her way toward the kitchen.
There he was—Sunghoon, wearing a white t-shirt and gray sweatpants, swaying to the soft rhythm of a song playing on his phone as he flipped pancakes. His back was to her, and she couldn't help but admire the way his muscles shifted under the fabric as he moved. A giddy warmth spread through her chest. Sunghoon was many things—sweet, thoughtful, a bit of a dork—but seeing him like this, in his element and trying to make her birthday special, made her heart flutter.
Without turning around, Sunghoon said with a teasing lilt, "I know you're watching me."
She giggled, tiptoeing closer until she was right behind him. "How'd you know?"
He turned around, a mischievous grin lighting up his face. "I could feel your eyes on me. Plus, you're not as quiet as you think." He leaned down and planted a soft kiss on her forehead. "Happy birthday, beautiful."
"Thank you," she whispered, wrapping her arms around his waist and nuzzling into his chest. "This is the best way to wake up."
Sunghoon's hand found its way to her lower back, pulling her closer. "Oh, it's only the beginning," he murmured, his lips brushing against the shell of her ear, sending a shiver down her spine. "I've got plans for you today. Starting with breakfast in bed."
Nari's eyes sparkled. "Breakfast in bed, huh? Does that come with a side of kisses?"
He smirked, leaning in until their lips were almost touching. "It comes with a lot more than that."
Before she could respond, he caught her lips in a slow, tender kiss. The warmth of his mouth against hers melted away any lingering sleepiness, replaced by the electric buzz of desire. The kiss deepened, growing hungrier as his hand slid up her spine, tangling in her hair. Nari sighed against his lips, her fingers curling into his shirt, craving more of his touch.
He pulled back, breathless and grinning. "As much as I'd love to keep you here, I've got pancakes burning."
She laughed, swatting at his chest playfully. "Go, go! We don't need smoke alarms going off on my birthday."
He winked at her before turning back to the stove, flipping the last pancake with impressive finesse. Nari watched him, unable to stop smiling. There was something about the way he was moving today—casual yet intentional, as if every action was a part of his silent declaration of love.
Once the pancakes were ready, Sunghoon arranged everything on a tray—pancakes, fresh fruit, and a small vase with a single rose. "Now, madam," he said, putting on an exaggerated French accent, "allow me to serve you your luxurious breakfast in bed."
Nari clapped her hands in delight. "Ooh, très chic! Lead the way, monsieur."
They headed back to the bedroom, where Sunghoon placed the tray on the bed and gestured for her to sit. "Bon appétit," he said, kissing the back of her hand before sitting beside her.
She took a bite of the pancakes, eyes widening in surprise. "These are amazing! You've been holding out on me."
"Only the best for my girl," he said, his eyes darkening slightly as they locked onto hers. "But this is just the start of what I have planned for today."
She tilted her head, a teasing smile playing on her lips. "Oh? And what else do you have planned, Mr. Park?"
He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a low, seductive whisper. "Well, let's just say it involves me making sure you feel extra special... and a little spoiled."
A shiver ran down her spine at his tone. The air between them crackled with anticipation as he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, his fingers lingering on her cheek. "You're already doing a pretty good job of that," she murmured.
Sunghoon's hand slid down to her thigh, giving it a gentle squeeze. "I plan on doing even better later."
She flushed at his words, feeling the heat of his gaze trail over her. "You better live up to those promises, then."
"Oh, trust me," he said, his lips ghosting over her ear. "I intend to."
The rest of breakfast was filled with playful banter and light touches—Sunghoon feeding her pieces of fruit, her giggling as he teased her about getting syrup on her chin, and more than a few stolen kisses between bites.
After they finished, Sunghoon pulled her into his lap, his hands resting possessively on her hips. "You look gorgeous, you know that?" he said, his voice husky as he buried his face in the crook of her neck, planting a trail of kisses along her collarbone.
"Flattery will get you everywhere," she breathed, her fingers threading through his hair.
"Good," he murmured against her skin. "Because I'm not planning on letting you out of my sight today."
