Sunghoon & Nari
The evening had arrived, and the night of Nari's workplace dinner party was finally here. Sunghoon and Nari were bustling about, preparing for the event. The excitement in the air was palpable, and both were eager to enjoy the night and show their support for Nari's career.
In their chic apartment, Nari stood in front of the full-length mirror, adjusting the delicate straps of her dress. Sunghoon, already dressed in a sharp suit, was carefully fastening the zipper on her elegant gown.
"You look stunning," Sunghoon murmured, his breath warm against her neck. "I don't think I've ever seen anyone look as breathtaking as you do tonight."
Nari blushed, a soft smile playing on her lips. "Thanks, Sunghoon. I'm glad you're here with me. I was a bit nervous about tonight."
"Why? You're going to wow everyone," Sunghoon said, his fingers lingering on the zipper for a moment longer than necessary. "Besides, I'm here to make sure no one tries to outshine you."
Nari giggled, her eyes meeting his in the mirror. "Well, I appreciate that. But you've got some serious competition in the form of my coworkers. They're all very charming."
Sunghoon raised an eyebrow playfully. "Charming, huh? I guess I'll have to keep an eye on them."
With the dress perfectly in place, Sunghoon and Nari finished their preparations and headed out the door. They arrived at the venue, a sophisticated restaurant lit with soft, ambient lighting. The atmosphere was elegant, and the air was filled with the clink of glasses and murmurs of conversation.
Nari led Sunghoon into the room, her hand entwined with his. She greeted her colleagues with enthusiasm, and Sunghoon was introduced to everyone.
"This is Sunghoon," Nari said, smiling brightly. "My boyfriend. Sunghoon, this is Dae-hyun."
Dae-hyun, a tall man with a friendly face and an easy smile, extended his hand. "Nice to meet you, Sunghoon. I've heard so much about you."
Sunghoon shook his hand firmly, trying to keep his cool. "Pleasure to meet you, Dae-hyun."
As the evening progressed, Sunghoon couldn't help but notice how Dae-hyun seemed to linger near Nari, often placing a hand on her back or shoulder during conversations. Though Dae-hyun's actions were friendly, Sunghoon felt a twinge of jealousy. It wasn't that he didn't trust Nari; it was just that the touchiness from someone he didn't know made him uneasy.
Nari, sensing Sunghoon's discomfort, leaned in close to him as they sipped on champagne. "Everything okay?" she asked softly, her eyes searching his.
"Yeah," Sunghoon said, forcing a smile. "Just a bit of a strange feeling, I guess. Is Dae-hyun always this... touchy?"
Nari's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Oh, Dae-hyun? He's just like that with everyone. He's very friendly. But if it makes you uncomfortable, just let me know."
Sunghoon nodded, though he still felt a pang of unease. "Alright, I'll keep that in mind."
Later in the evening, Dae-hyun approached Nari, his arm resting casually on her shoulder. "Nari, you should come and join us for a toast. We're celebrating a new project."
Nari smiled, her eyes darting to Sunghoon. "Sure, let me just get Sunghoon."
Sunghoon was quick to join them, sliding his arm around Nari's waist possessively as they walked over to the group. His presence seemed to subtly shift the dynamic, and he couldn't resist making a bit of a playful show.
"Hey, Dae-hyun," Sunghoon said with a smirk. "I hope you're not trying to steal my girlfriend away."
Dae-hyun laughed, raising his glass. "Not at all. I'm just trying to make sure she enjoys herself tonight. But it looks like you're doing a great job of that already."
Sunghoon's smile widened, and he leaned in closer to Nari. "Well, I'd like to think so. But if you're trying to make me jealous, it's working."
Nari chuckled, her face flushed with amusement. "Sunghoon, you're being silly. Dae-hyun is just being friendly."
Dae-hyun grinned, clearly enjoying the banter. "And Sunghoon is being a protective boyfriend. It's a good look on you, man."
As the night went on, Sunghoon made a conscious effort to stay engaged and enjoy himself. He was determined not to let his jealousy ruin the evening. He took Nari's hand and led her to the dance floor, pulling her into a slow, intimate dance.
"You know," Sunghoon said, his voice low and flirtatious, "I think this is my favorite part of the night."
Nari's eyes sparkled. "Why's that?"
"Because it's just us," Sunghoon replied, his gaze locked with hers. "No Dae-hyun, no distractions. Just you and me."
Nari smiled, resting her head on his shoulder. "I love you, Sunghoon. Thanks for being here with me tonight."
"I love you too," Sunghoon said softly. "Even if you have to share me with a room full of charming coworkers."
Nari laughed softly, her fingers gently tracing patterns on his back. "You're ridiculous, you know that?"
"And you're beautiful," Sunghoon said, kissing the top of her head. "Even if Dae-hyun seems to think so too."
As the evening drew to a close, Sunghoon and Nari bid farewell to her colleagues. Despite the initial unease, Sunghoon was glad they had made it through the night with humor and affection intact. The drive home was filled with light-hearted chatter and teasing about the day's events.
"You know," Nari said, glancing at Sunghoon with a mischievous smile, "I think you handled yourself quite well tonight. Even with Dae-hyun's over-friendliness."
Sunghoon grinned, reaching over to take her hand. "I tried my best. But let's be honest—nobody can outshine you."
Nari squeezed his hand, her eyes filled with warmth. "I'm glad to hear that. And I'm also glad that we're so in sync. Even when things get a little weird."
"You and me against the world," Sunghoon said, leaning in to kiss her cheek. "Or at least against overly friendly coworkers."
They shared a laugh as the car pulled into their driveway, their hearts light and their bond stronger than ever. The night had been a mix of emotions and experiences, but through it all, Sunghoon and Nari remained each other's greatest support and joy.
