Sunghoon & Nari
Later that day, everyone gathered in the garden, enjoying drinks, food, and each other's company. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy. Friends danced, talked, and shared stories from the past.
Bora and Jake were playfully arguing over who had the worst taste in music. "Jake, your playlist is stuck in the 90s! Get with the times!" Bora teased.
Jake shot back, "At least I don't listen to that techno stuff you call music. It's just noise!"
Nari laughed, watching them bicker. "You two never change, do you?"
Sunghoon was standing near one of the tables, talking to Haneul's sister. They seemed very close, laughing and sharing stories. Nari felt a pang of unease seeing them together. She decided to intervene. She walked up to them, her heart beating a little faster.
"Sunghoon," she called, catching his attention. "I need you to get my phone and call one of Haneul's friends who just arrived. They need to be picked up from the reception."
Sunghoon raised an eyebrow, puzzled. "Why do I need to call them and pick them up?"
Nari held up her hands, showing off her freshly painted nails. "I can't ruin my nails," she explained nonchalantly before walking away.
Sunghoon excused himself from Haneul's sister and followed Nari. She was walking briskly ahead of him. He called her name, and she turned around.
"Give me your phone so I can call them," he said.
Nari pointed to her dress pocket, giving him a shy smile. He hesitated for a moment, then reached into her pocket, feeling the warmth of her body. The moment was intimate, and Sunghoon pretended to be lost, fidgeting around, savoring the closeness. Nari watched him with amusement.
Finally, he found the phone. Their hands brushed against each other, sending a spark through him. He took a deep breath and made the call, but the person didn't pick up. Frustrated but determined to help, Sunghoon decided to go to the reception himself.
He entered the lobby and was shocked to see a familiar face. "Heeseung?" he exclaimed, his surprise evident.
Heeseung, a close friend from his work and from what Heeseung told him later, a good friend of Haneul, turned around, smiling widely. "Sunghoon! I didn't expect to see you here!"
Sunghoon laughed, shaking his head. "Neither did I. How have you been?"
Heeseung walked over, giving Sunghoon a friendly hug. "I've been good, busy with work, but good. What about you?"
Sunghoon shrugged, smiling. "Same here. It's great to see you."
They chatted for a while, catching up on their lives. The sense of familiarity and friendship warmed Sunghoon's heart. Heeseung was someone who always understood him, and it felt good to reconnect.
