"Class," Mr. Putman called, trying to silence the chattering class. "Class!"
The kids stopped their conversations to turn to look at the teacher.
"Over next week, you all will be working on a project about Ancient civilizations," He explained, pulling up a slideshow onto the TV. "It will be a partner project,"
Brad's hand shot up in the air, but before he was called on he blurted out, "Can we pick our partners?"
"Of course. Not. I have selected partners for you at random." Mr. Putman replied. "Brad and Scott. Ash and Chris. Clancee and Akita."
Mr. Putman went on and on with the list of partners, ignoring the groans of students who didn't get the partner they wanted to work with.
"And finally Nya and Skylor," Mr. Putman finished reading off the list. "You can discuss how you'll be presenting your projects and what your Ancient Civilization will be until the end of class."
The students got up and started moving around to meet with their partners. Skylor stayed seated since she didn't know who this 'Nya' was.
"Hey, I'm Nya, and you are my partner Skylor, right," Nya introduced herself as she plopped down on the chair next to Skylor.
"Yeah, that's me," Skylor replied.
"I think we should do our project on the ancient civilization of the Ignacians." Nya suggested.
"Sure. Why did you choose that one though?" Skylor question. She wrote 'Ancient Ignacians' down as the header in her notebook.
"Oh, it's where I grew up until we moved when I was in 3rd grade," Nya explained. Skylor nodded.
"Do you want to come over to my house this weekend to work on the project?" Nya questioned Skylor.
"Sure," Skylor said, pulling out her phone. "Let me give you my number so you can send me your address."
"Okay, great," Nya typed in her number on Skylor's phone, and shot herself a quick text. "There we go!"
"Nice, see you tomorrow," Skylor said, grabbing her bag from the floor and placing her notebook and pencil case in.
"What do you mean?" Nya questioned, confused. Skylor paused before holding up three fingers, then two, and then one. Suddenly the bell rang, just as Skylor predicted. She waved bye, before slipping out of the room.
"Wow, that's cool," Nya wondered aloud.

"This is so unfair," Lloyd groaned, his head leaned against his locker as Kai chuckled at his misery.
"Sucks to be you green bean, but unlucky for you, I happened to not get detention in the second week of school," Kai said proudly. With a total of 29 detentions last year, Kai was almost given a suspension due to his constant misbehaving, but this year, as of now, he seemed to be good at staying out of trouble.
"My dad's gonna kill me.." Lloyd dragged out, finally opening his locker to retrieve the rest of his stuff.
"Don't worry, I'll prepare your funeral," Kai jokes. Lloyd shot him a glare. "Just kiddin', he won't go that hard on you."
"That's a lie and you know it," Nya said, appearing from the corner of the hallway. "You're dead Lloyd."
"Great, just what I needed, more negativity," Lloyd grumbled. "At least my detention teacher isn't Mrs. Lambussy, or I would have ended myself."
"She's that bad?" Kai said, lifting his eyebrows.
"She's the one who gave me two weeks detention for answering a question correctly," Lloyd snarled. He placed his backpack on his shoulder, before shutting his locker with a long sigh. "I hate school."
"Who doesn't?" Kai fixed his hair in his locker's mirror before shutting the door. "Let's go Nya,"
"Ooo, can I drive?" Nya question with puppy dog eyes. She had recently got her permit, and was allowed to drive with a licensed driver in her vehicle; however, Kai did not trust her behind a steering wheel.
"You already know the answer to that," Kai said, pulling out his keys.
"Yes?" Nya smirked. Kai shook his head with laughter.
"Nope,"
