The group sat together during lunch, ignoring the bustle of the loud lunchroom.
"Does anyone know where Cole has been?" Kai said, half munching on his bef burrito. Lloyd shrugged, chomping on his grilled cheese sandwich.
"He's at home," Jay answered, picking at his spaghetti with his fork. Jay's mod was way down low at the moment since his parent's were leaving today. For the record, the Gordons and Walkers spent the day together doing what ever Jay wanted to cheer him up. It was fun then, but now the full weight of it all was dropping on him.
"Obviously, but why is he at home. He isn;t sick is he?" Kai asked, rolling his eyes. Ay sighed.
"He's not sick, his mom is," Jay admitted. Lloyd raised an eyebrow.
"He's home because his mom has a common cold? Lucky him," Jay glared at Lloyd. He couldn't exactly blame the blonde. Jay wasn't giving them full details even though Cole said if they asked about him t=he could tell them what happened.
"Not lucky him. It's cancer," Lloyd's face dropped befre he scrammbled out an apology.
"Cancer? What type," Zane asked, intrigued yet saddened by the topic. Jay shrugged.
"I don't know some kind of cancer that effects breathing," he shrugged. The doctors were still running tests to find where the tumor was affecting and they hadn't gotten back to the Brookstone Family with the information.
"I'm guessing Respiratory Cancer." Zane concluded. He gained strange glances and faces of confusion from his friends.
"Lung Cancer. He thinks she has Lung Cancer," Pixal spoke up. Zane nodded. The group let out small "o"s and "ok"s.
"He said he'll be back next week since that's when all the data nd treatment plans would come out," Jay explained, answering the question that filled the kids' minds.
"Didn't his grandmother die from cancer just three yeas ago?" Lloyd quipped, bringing up the past.
"Are you saying Cole's mom will die of it too?" Jay snapped angriliy.
"No, jeez, I'm saying it might be hereditary and Cole might get it too," Lloyd corrected himself, brushing off Jay's anger as protectiveness of his best friend.
"It usually isn't hereditary, only 8% of cases were hereditary. So we won't know until Cole gets older." Zane responded. Pixal nodde, agreeing wih Zane.
"Well, let's hope Lloyd is wrong," Jay said, stabbing a meatball with his fork.
"Yeah," Lloyd said, finishing his sandwich. The group ate in silence, pondering on their res=cent discoveries. What if Lily dies? What if Cole gets it?
