Quinn
Quinn went out to town with Keegan and his parents and Aida. His dads stayed back at the inn to hang out with Albert. He knew it was an excuse to get some lone time and dirty the inn's sheets, but he decided not to expose them.
They were more familiar with the little town now. Quinn found himself enjoying the walk and the little shops. They went past the diner that caught fire a few days ago: it now had yellow straps taped around the front door and the broken windows had been boarded up to keep intruders out. After walking around the corner, they visited a little bookstore decorated like a voodoo shop that reminded Quinn of the one he'd seen in New Orleans years ago when he went there on vacation with his dads. He couldn't help but wonder if the shop owner dressed like a fortune teller was supernatural or simply a human in a costume. He wasn't sure if he would be able to discern between an actual supernatural from someone in costume on Halloween now that he knew magical creatures were real.
On top of that, the dream from last night with the bizarre waterfall still lingered in the back of his mind. He had been hearing water ever since he came to Fallen, and Kylie had mentioned a waterfall yesterday. It was hard not to think that there wasn't a connection to this.
Meredith decided to pay a visit to Fallen Gallery after Keegan gave her the Jewish symbol pendant the artist picked out for her as a gift, and that's where they went. Quinn and Keegan agreed to avoid telling his parents that the place was owned by werewolves. Well, one full-blooded werewolf and a half-were with fae and human blood, as Miranda told them.
"How may I help you?" asked Fredericka Lakota. She inclined her head at Quinn and Keegan with politeness, and then turned back to Meredith. "Ah, you must be Keegan's mother."
Meredith nodded. "Yes. I loved the pendant you chose for my son. I was hoping you might have some more to sell. Jewish symbols aren't necessary."
Fredericka smiled genuinely and showed her to a jewelry display case. Ezra was busy checking out an intricately carved wooden falcon statue on the other side of the room with Brandon–the owner–telling him the details. Keegan bumped Quinn's shoulder lightly and tilted his head toward the door with a mischievous grin on his face. Quinn grinned back as he caught on.
He followed his boyfriend out to the front yard. He was about to ask what was going on when Keegan abruptly turned around and gave him the most passionate kiss. And dang, if only he couldn't feel Keegan too.
Quinn's heart pounded against his chest like a drum while every nerve in his body came to life with electricity. The lights inside flickered in response to his arousal. He had to split his focus to make them settle down. A moment later, Keegan pulled back.
"What was that for?" Quinn whispered with a goofy smile.
Keegan shrugged. "Just enjoying the normalcy, I guess."
I know what you mean. It hasn't exactly been a normal trip. Better enjoy it as much as I can.
"Don't get me wrong, Quinn," Keegan went on, "I'm not complaining. I even enjoy the experience. But in the past two days, we had to help save people from a fire, and then we went on a tour at a school inhabited by vampires, werewolves, witches, and God knows what else. I just felt like we haven't really been able to enjoy the trip."
"And the peace and quiet," Quinn added.
Keegan's smile widened. He looked back at the house. "C'mon, let's get back inside before they figure out what we're doing out here."
Quinn snickered. He let Keegan drag him back inside.
They left with a set of quartz earrings and a matching bracelet. Ezra didn't want to leave without buying something himself. Luckily, Brandon recommended a miniature eagle statue standing on top of a crescent moon with outspread clouds to keep the thing from falling over.
