Chapter 28 | How to Go About It

Quinn

Quinn allowed himself to enjoy the next few hours with his family at the inn. Albert and Aida showed them the garden where customers could have special activities, such as exercise or games. It hadn't been easy to have fun. His mind kept wandering back to the waterfall and how to ask Kylie about it. Should he just blurt it out like something casual? He didn't know how the supernatural world worked, but in the short time he spent with Kylie and her peers, they seemed like normal people for the most part.

There were no vampires who attempted to bite any of the human parents. Miranda had told them that students sometimes donated blood to their vamp peers for mandatory morning rituals and sustenance–not that he needed to know that. He didn't see many of the werewolves mingle with the other students yesterday, but Lucas had been welcoming. And the other creatures didn't seem scary at all–the witches and fairies were friendly, and the shape-shifters mingled with most everyone, even some of the werewolves.

It was around six before everyone dispatched to relax in their rooms before dinner. Keegan and Quinn went out to the balcony to enjoy the fresh air. Keegan settled down in a vintage wicker chair while Quinn leaned on the railing. The sun had left the horizon followed by the pink and orange lights that loomed behind. The stars were beginning to come out to fill the evening.

He heard a low snicker come from Keegan.

"What's so funny?" he asked, looking over his shoulder.

Keegan flicked his eyes to Quinn's "side". He had that goofy, mischievous smile on him that indicated he was up to something. Something that Quinn always loved doing. Just the thought of it was enough to send a jolt throughout his body. Suddenly his lips ached for wetness from Keegan.

He pushed himself away from the railing the same time Keegan rose from his chair. They closed the distance without looking away. Quinn was so captivated by Keegan's hazel eyes and didn't even notice anything else until he felt Keegan's hand on his butt cheek. Electricity–metaphorically speaking–coursed through Quinn's body. He could feel his pants tighten in an exciting and slightly uncomfortable way. Then Keegan pulled in him for a kiss.

Quinn deepened the kiss little by little. Keegan's lips parted when he reached in with his tongue and touched his. They tangled together like that for the next few minutes. The lights in the house flickered in response to Quinn's excitement.

Then Keegan pulled away from Quinn's lips.

"Okay, no more stalling," he whispered with a broken voice. "You should probably call Kylie before my aunt and uncle come find us."

But I want you so much more. He started reaching for his lips again. He pulled back his head.

"Later. I'll reward you with some more after you make that call, and tonight I'll be all yours. All night if you want."

He trailed his fingers down Quinn's chest all the way to his belly. Quinn's heart fluttered with anticipation, butterflies filled his stomach and his mind fogged with excitement.

"Well, we can't actually do that. My uncle and aunt put us in separate rooms for a reason. But since they don't know about you being super, you can just sneak past them."

That would be exciting. Except it's a total violation of using my powers responsibly. Ah, screw it, I already used them to fly off with Keegan. He began to reach for more, prompting Keegan to press his index finger against Quinn's lips. "After you make the call. It's obviously important and distracting yourself isn't gonna help."

He lowered his finger. Quinn smiled proudly at him.

"I love you."

Keegan smiled back. They untangled from each other. Quinn took out his phone and looked up Shadow Falls' number on the contact list. After he found it, he pressed the call button. Keegan stepped away for a bit.
