Quinn
Everyone played scrabbles in the guest room. When it came time for bed, the Millers and McAlesters returned to their separate rooms. But Quinn had another plan in mind. He was going to pay Kylie a visit and ask her some questions. Keegan was supportive enough to help him find the location on Google Map.
"About five miles north on the outskirts of town," he told him. "I'll send you the map so you can track it."
"Thanks, babe," he said while running his arms into his superhero suit's sleeves. "I will need that now that we're in an unfamiliar place."
"Are you sure you want to do this, Quinn?" Dad asked, his arms tangled together, "How do you know this Kylie won't try something?"
Quinn snorted and shook his head. Once the suit was zipped up, he reached for the belt. His phone dinged with Keegan's text. "I don't think she will, Dad. You should've seen her today. She leaped into that fire without a second thought, and when she saw me, her main focus was on helping that lady. She could've fought me when I tried to get us out, but all she did was tell me she couldn't be seen by others. If you think she is dangerous, I'm not seeing it at the moment."
Dad shrugged. Daddio patted his shoulder reassuringly. Quinn put on his boots and gloves, then pulled the cowl over his face.
"I'll be fine," he assured them, "Don't worry."
Keegan went to him to give him a peck on the lips. When he pulled back, he had a light smile on his face. "Be careful."
Quinn smiled back. "I will." Looking at his dads, he added, "I promise."
His dads smiled back supportively. Quinn, with his Blue Spekter persona on, went out to the balcony, then turned to look back at his boyfriend and fathers before flying off in invisibility mode. He flew about a thousand feet high and started heading north toward the town. The breeze hardly bothered him. It was cold, but also warming: a trace of the warm spring. The moonlight illuminated the earth below by a fraction, but it was enough for him to see clearly. Trees swayed back and forth by the night wind. Streetlights and car taillights shone on the rural town.
He was flying right over it when he realized he needed to be visible in order to see the map. Slowly to a hover in the air, Blue Spekter turned off his invisibility ad fished out his cellphone to read Keegan's text. Google Maps opened to a map of the little town of Fallen. According to it, he was hovering over somewhere between the local bank and antique shop. Route lines showed him alternative paths to reach Shadow Falls, which was very far out. He had to expand the screen in order to find it. All of them were either hour-long walks or driving. But he had an even better route.
Blue Spekter took off toward the marked destination. The central streets disappeared behind him. He flew until he reached the rural area of the town before stopping to check his phone.
Shit, how did I fly two miles southwest? Damn technology.
Blue Spekter checked the phone as he tried in a different direction to test Google Map's capability to follow his location. It was slow, but it definitely worked. The blue dot followed his position. It went toward the right direction this time.
He started in that direction. The forest stretched on before him. He flew slower this time to make sure he didn't head in the wrong direction again. The dot on the map closed in on the destination by the minute.
The woods cleared out to reveal a tall fence that stretched for miles. Up ahead were a collection of small cottages. Most of them were dark, but some windows were lit. Blue Spekter checked his position and found himself facing the southwest corner of the school ground. The entrance laid half a mile up northwest on the map.
