I was drinking some coffee in the morning when Ella finally woke up. "You know, we're going to have to wake up early once school starts," I reminded her. Ella rolled her eyes. "Do you have any more coffee?" She asked. "I'm an organized person most of the time- you know that. It's summer break, so it should be a break." Jamie chucked. "I suppose that's true. Is Jake still asleep?" Ella shrugged. "I have no idea. Probably, though. He doesn't take too long to get ready." I nodded. "What do you want to do today? I'm tired of packing. Plus, I'm pretty sure I'm basically finished." Ella rolled her eyes. "Pretty sure and basically. Uh huh. Well, we do have a week." She paused, glancing back at the room Jake slept in. "You know, living together is going to be very tough." Jamie paused, then shrugged. "Yeah, well, I don't want to make him pay on his own. That would be rude." Ella nodded in agreement solemnly. "What would be rude?" Ella jumped as the door opened and Jake stepped out into the kitchen. "Oh, hey Jake," I greeted. "We were just talking about stuff. It's nothing." Ella raised an eyebrow at me, but didn't speak." Oh, uh- okay." He paused. "What do you guys want to do today?" Ella shrugged. "Something fun and exciting. I want the remainder of the summer to be great. I don't want to be sitting around here doing nothing," I said, leaning back in my chair. "Jamie, we are not going skydiving," Ella warned. I rolled my eyes. "I wasn't going to say that. Maybe we could go bowling or something." Jake nodded. "Yeah, that sounds fun. We could go eat dinner at the local bowling alley. They have good pizza," Jake suggested. I smiled. "Then it's settled." My phone went off and I jumped. "Oh, sorry. It's my Mom," I said. "I'm assuming she wants to talk to both of us." I glanced over at Ella. She nodded and the two of us walked into my bedroom. I answered. "Hi Mom," I said. "Hey! Is your sister with you?" She asked. "I am," Ella replied. "Great. I just wanted to see how you two were settling in. Is it nice there?" I glanced around at the nice furniture. "Yeah. It's great. I'm so happy Jake can stay here too." Mom paused. "How is Jake? I know his grandmother is going through some health issues..." I sighed. "Oh, he's fine... he's worried for her, obviously, but so far she's doing pretty well." "That's good news," Mom agreed. "Well, I should let you get off to whatever you're planning on doing..." She paused, then said quietly. "Also, make sure to be careful. You aren't living with us anymore, and you're also living with Jake, who isn't..." her voice trailed off, but Ella and I could finish her sentence. "We will. Promise," I agreed, then we said our goodbyes and hung up. I looked over to Ella nervously. "I really hope we can abide by that promise."

"YEAH!! I win again!" I shouted as I looked at the score sheet. Ella sighed. "You're ridiculous..." she muttered. Jake laughed and took another bite of his pizza. "I must know the secret to your great power," he joked. I grinned. "The secret is believing in yourself... and also pure luck." We all laughed. "Well, I think we used up all our time. We should go back now," Ella said after looking at her watch. Jake nodded. "Yeah. Maybe we can get some ice cream on the way back, though." I grinned. "Good idea."

After a long day, we finally got back to our apartment. I went into the bathroom to take a shower, and glanced at myself in the mirror. My black hair went about to my shoulders, and the tips were "dyed" reddish-orange, when in reality that was just a part of my powers. My hair had looked like that ever since I got my powers. I wondered if Jake ever questioned it, since people looked for every little sign of magic in others. Then again, many humans dyed their hair. I pushed my thoughts away. I was supposed to be showering.
