The next day went fairly quickly. Jamie and I had breakfast with our friends then decided to do more research on the Hybrid Hunters. Lilly and Amelia were doing the same. We agreed that we would share any information we found during the meeting. "Before we look into the Hybrid Hunters, I think we should figure out where we can get more of those charms. We can't use the Magic Locator until we have them," I said. Jamie nodded. "I agree." We both got to work on our laptops. Soon, I found something. "Jamie... you know how our parents would tell us stories of secret tunnels used to travel back and forth? And how one of them is only half an hour from our parents' house? It takes... nine hours to get there from here. There is supposedly a giant field of charms growing right on the other side." Jamie looked at me with excitement. "I will do everything in my power to ensure that there is peace in the human and magical world. If we say those words at the entrance..." "We can get into the tunnels and cross to the magic world!" I finished. Jamie looked a bit sad all of a sudden. "We haven't been there since the invasion. I vaguely remember Mom and Dad waking us up. Talking frantically. They told us that hundreds of mundane people had managed to come through one of the borders. They were killing or capturing hybrids and magical creatures left and right. That's why we moved. Thankfully, they don't know about the tunnels. That's how so many people were able to escape." I nodded. "I remember a little bit too. Everyone was so scared." Jamie wiped her eyes. "We will get our home back." I nodded then turned my attention back towards my laptop. I typed Hybrid Hunters into the search engine. I clicked on the first website that came up. My eyes widened. "What is it?" Jamie asked. "It's a recruiting page." I scrolled down further. There was a list of names. I smiled at Jamie. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" She smirked. "You're thinking that we should submit a fake name to get more information. I'll use my laptop to create an email." Soon, we were ready. I clicked on the 'name' box and typed, "Jon Lucas." There was also a box for emails. Jonlucas@gmail.com. We grinned at each other. We had our own "spy on the inside."

When we met Amelia and Lilly at the waterfall, we could hardly contain our excitement. "We got some great information," Jamie said. "I can't wait to hear it!" I pushed the water aside to let everyone through. Once we were all in the cave, everything we had learned practically burst out of me. Jamie opened up her laptop. "I brought this, so we can see if they have sent any emails yet." Amelia and Lilly couldn't stop laughing. "What if they want to meet Mr. Lucas?' Lilly asked with a fake serious tone. I smiled. "We haven't thought that far ahead yet." Amelia started clearing her throat and coughing. "I'm afraid Mr. Lucas is quite sick." Jamie's eyes gleamed. "There's an email. Dear Mr. Lucas, we are pleased to have so many people interested in destroying the disease called magic that has unfortunately invaded an incredible amount of humans..." At that point, we all scoffed. "I would like to know some more information about you. How old are you? What made you decide to join us? What is your sexuality? What is your ethnicity? Please respond ASAP." We all burst into laughter again. I grabbed Jamie's computer and began to speak while I typed a response. "Hello, I am 30 years old. I am white and gay. I decided to join your noble cause because magic disgusts me. The thought of it in general disgusts me. It disgusts me in animals. Most of all, I find it outrageous that some humans have it. Especially the hybrids. They are the worst. Their ancestors bred with non-human creatures. Mermaids, dragons, unicorns. It's revolting. I truly hope I can be an asset to the Hybrid Hunters. Sincerely, Jon Lucas." Still, we were laughing hysterically. "What is your fake reason for going back to Virginia next weekend?" Lilly asked. I sighed. "Our parents' funeral. Jake is going to be so heartbroken that he 'wasn't invited.'" Lilly frowned. "It's horrible that you can't actually have a funeral for your parents." Jamie nodded. "According to Frank Hoffman, it's too dangerous." I could hear bitterness in her voice. We were all silent for a moment. "When are you going to go?" Amelia asked. "Next weekend," I replied. We continued to talk for around an hour before leaving. When we reached our dorm, I sighed. "It's going to be awful telling Jake that he can't come with us." Jamie nodded. "He is going to be so hurt. With feelings of dread for the next day, we went to sleep.
