I ended up driving us another 30 minutes away. We knew we had to be on the move. Just to be careful. I parked at a small hotel. "We'll have to stay here tonight. I'm not sure what we'll do after that. Samantha was nice, but I don't want to burden anyone else with four extra people in their house," I said. Ella nodded. "We have to be careful in terms of money, but for now there's not much else we can do." The four of us got out of the car and walked in. We checked into the hotel and went up to our room. Amelia and Lilly sat on one bed, and I sat with Ella. Amelia, Lilly and I were laughing and telling stories, but my sister was staring at her phone, frowning. "Thomas again?" I questioned. She nodded. "He keeps texting and calling me. I can't bear to answer or read his messages. Do you think they told everyone about us?" I hugged my knees, thinking of Chris, Thomas, Liam, even Harmony... Did they all hate us now? "Probably," I whispered. "And they most likely made a big deal about it." I knew I wasn't making Ella feel better, but we both knew the truth. They would probably all gather in the auditorium and talk about how Hybrids are very clever, and how they can hide who they are so very easily. How they can be right next to you, pretending to be your friend. Jake's face flashed in my mind. I couldn't believe it was him of all people. Before, if I had to tell someone that we were hybrids, it would have been Jake. My best friend. "I miss him," Ella whispered, seemingly knowing what I was thinking. She gave me an empathetic look, full of sadness. "I miss him so much." I nodded, unable to respond. We sat in silence for a moment, before I laid back on my pillow. "Well, I need some sleep," I said, closing my eyes. Ella didn't respond but I felt her lay down beside me. After a long time of thinking, I finally fell into a restless sleep.

The next morning, we left our hotel and drove another 30 minutes, just to get farther away. The Magic Locator didn't pick up anything on the way, so we didn't have to stop until we got to a small, old city. Most of the hybrids we found lived in either very big areas or very small areas. The first seemed the best choice for me. It would be harder to find them, after all. Though there would be more people searching there in most cases. But whatever this person's mindset was didn't matter. We needed to help them. The Magic Locator led us to a grocery store. I pulled in and parked. "Come on. We need an excuse for why we need to talk to this person, I suppose." Ella nodded and opened the door. "We should go in and see who it is first. It's going to have to be different depending on what they're doing. Jamie and I will talk telepathically, and you two follow along." She glanced at Amelia and Lilly. It sucked that they couldn't hear our plans, but it was too risky in a public place to be talking about that. "Right," Lilly said. We walked into the store. The Magic Locator led us to one of the cashiers. She looked to be in her 20s. She was very tired and was smiling a fake smile at all of the customers. We could ask her to help us with something? I'm not sure though. Ella sent. I'll ask her to show me where the... cereal is, I suppose. The four of us walked up to the cashier. "Hey, um, would you mind showing us where the cereal section is?" She paused. "I'm in the middle of working. There are more people around here who can help you, though." She turned to look for any of her co-workers, most likely, but I stopped her. "The stuff in here seems to teleport around. It's almost magical." Her eyes widened, then she frowned slightly. She considered for a second, then said, "Actually, I think I can show you. Come with me." She led us out of the grocery store and into a place where no one could see us. "Please don't tell me I got this wrong, but-" I lit my hand on fire, smirking. "No, you got it perfectly right. We've come to help hybrids in need." Ella dug pulled out a charm. "We're assuming you know what that is?" Amelia added, gesturing to it. We wanted Ella to keep quiet if she could, so we didn't have to explain too much. The cashier's eyes widened. "No way... how did you even get one of these things?" I grinned. "We went into the magical world. Long story." She gasped. "That's insane. You four are heroes!" She took it like it was the most expensive thing in the world. "Thank you," Amelia murmured. "Do you have any people you would like to give a charm to? It would be nice if you could give them to other hybrids." She nodded. "I need three more. Is that okay?" She looked nervous. I smiled. "That's great." Ella handed her the extra charms. The cashier's eyes were still wide when we stepped away. "How long have you been doing this? Do you have a name or something?" she asked. "Not long. We only started recently," I said, then paused, looking back at my friends. We all shared a look of decision. "And yeah, we do have a name. The Hybrid Freedom Advocates."
