When I walked into the orchestra room, Lilly and Hayden immediately dragged me into Director White's office. He and Director Garcia were sitting there, waiting. "I'm excited for this presentation!" Director Garcia smiled. "I am too. You are one of my best students, Ella." I blushed and mumbled a thank you. The three of us prepared to start. Once we were ready, Lilly spoke. "I am Lilly Jones and that is Hayden Wells. We will be playing When I'm gone. Our vocalist is Ella Glynn." Hayden and Lilly started playing and after a few measures, I joined in. It went very smoothly. As soon as we finished, both Director White and Director Garcia clapped. "Excellent, girls," Director Garcia said. "Thank you," we replied. Hayden and Lilly left the room. Director White gestured for Jaylin and Thomas to come in. I set up my flute and music. Thomas spoke for us. "I am Thomas Thornebrook and the lovely lady next to me is my beloved girlfriend, Ella Glynn. We are playing Toxic by Brittany Spears. Our vocalist is Jaylin Matthews." Director Garcia raised her eyebrows and mouthed, girlfriend, huh. I blushed, but turned my attention towards my music. I played the intro and Jaylin sang. Once again, Director White and Director Garcia were extremely pleased. "I knew you two would be a good match," Director White said. "Apparently in more ways than one," Director Garcia added. Director White rolled his eyes, but smiled. They were close friends. We left the room. As soon as the door was closed, Thomas picked me up and twirled me around then kissed me. I giggled. "You know that was only a presentation, right? It's not like it was a competition or anything." Thomas grinned. "If it had been, we surely would have won." I rolled my eyes. "How could you possibly know that? We didn't hear anybody else perform." He smirked. "I heard everybody." I raised an eyebrow. "How exactly?" He shrugged. "Not important..." After I gave him a stern glance, he relented. "Fine. I put my ear up against the door." I smacked him playfully. "Weirdo!" He smiled softly. "Ella, I swear there is something magical about you. You seem to emanate something special. I must have some sort of internal tracker. I am so lucky to have found you." I forced myself not to tense. Surely he couldn't know... Suddenly, I felt dizzy. How could I not think of this sooner? Thomas looked concerned. "Ella, are you okay?" I nodded quickly. "Yeah, I'm fine." He clearly didn't believe me, but let it go. We returned to our seats. The rest of the period went fast. As soon as we reached our dorm, I turned to Jamie. "I thought of something. You know the Magic Locator? If we could get one of those, we could use it to find more people with magic!" Her eyes widened. "Oh my gosh, you're right. This could help so much." I smiled. "Most police forces keep several in stock. I will call Frank Hoffman. Could you call Lilly and Amelia?" Jamie nodded. I dialed Frank's number. It went to voicemail, so I left a message. "This is Ella Glynn. Do you think it would be possible for us to get a Magic Locator? Please call me back." A few minutes later, Jamie came back. "They are both really excited. I hope this works." I nodded. "I do too."
