I glared darkly at Jake. "Get away from us, asshole." I stood protectively over Amelia. "You know I can't do that," Jake said. I saw Thomas from a distance and mouthed, help. He saw Amelia bleeding and his eyes widened. Thomas gestured to a man and once he had the man's attention, pointed to Amelia. The man nodded and ran over. "My name is Nathan. I have healing powers. May I?" I nodded then backed away from Amelia a little bit. He touched the wound and in a moment it closed up. "I can give you some energy too, but I also need to conserve my power for other people. Take it easy." He ran off. I slowly helped Amelia to her feet. Throughout this, Jake didn't move or speak. Neither did Ella and Jamie. Finally, Jake spoke again, "Congratulations on the engagement." I made a rash decision and smacked him across the face. "You've made it damn clear that you don't give a shit about us," I hissed. He looked pained. I refused to believe it though. Amelia, who surely felt much better, took out a dagger. Jamie paled. "No! Don't hurt him." I couldn't stand it anymore, so I snapped. "Don't be so naive, Jamie. He will kill you if we don't kill him." She put her head down and stayed silent. We were all silent again for a moment. All of a sudden, a female Hybrid Hunter ran over. My grip tightened on my bow. We all watched in shock as the Hybrid Hunter kissed Jake on the lips. "Goodjob, baby. Cornering all four founders... Once they are dead the others will give up." She took a gun out of the holster. "Who first? Ella? Jamie? Lilly? Amelia?" She pointed the gun at each of us in turn. Jake still didn't speak, but he also pulled out a gun. "I can't decide, baby. What do you think?" At that moment, a man in a different uniform walked over. "What are you waiting for, Gray? Kill them or else." I briefly wondered what he meant by that, but Jake's uncertainty seemed to fade away. Out of my peripheral vision, I saw Amelia turn invisible. A moment later, she turned visible and Jake's gun was in her hand. She held it to his head. The woman aimed her gun at my head. Not somewhere the bullet proof vest would protect. "You kill my love, I'll kill yours. Give it back to him." Knowing the Hybrid Hunter wasn't bluffing, Amelia handed the gun over with disgust. The Hybrid Hunter smirked. "Good girl." That remark was too much. Amelia lunged at her, a dagger in her hand. What happened next seemed to occur in slow motion. Jake turned and pointed the gun at Amelia. I ran forward and covered her. Then I took the bullet meant for my fiancée. If I had been the same height as Amelia, it would have hit the top of the bulletproof vest. Instead it hit me in the head and immediately killed me.
