On Friday, I considered not going to the waterfall. Jamie convinced me to go, though. Honestly, it ended up making me feel a bit better. Amelia and Lilly beat us there. Amelia ran to Jamie and Lilly ran to me. They hugged us. "How are you holding up?" Lilly asked, concern on her face. I didn't know how I could put my feelings into words, so I merely shrugged. I moved the water so we could get into the cave. We were all silent for a moment. Amelia hesitantly began to speak. "Lilly and I were thinking that instead of talking about magic, you could share fond memories of you parents...if you want." Jamie and I glanced at each other. She looked like she wanted to do it, so I nodded. Jamie smiled slightly and launched into a story. Soon, all four of us were laughing hysterically. When it was time to go back, I hugged my friends tightly. "Thank you. This helped a lot." When we got back to our dorm, Jamie and I got ready to go to sleep. As we laid on our beds, I sighed. "Jamie...I know we have never been as religious as our parents would have liked, but...do you want to pray?" She was silent for a moment. I thought that she had already fallen asleep. "Yeah." Without needing to say another word, we both climbed out of bed. We kneeled on the floor. "God, I know it has been a long time since we have come to you. Right now, we really need your guidance. Please help us through our parents' deaths. Please help us understand why it was their time." Jamie continued. "You know, I'm thinking of more memories. Whenever we stayed at Grandma Powell's house on a Saturday night, she would take us to Mass in the morning. That particular church always served doughnuts after Mass. We would sit with Grandpa Glynn too. Mom and Dad would pick us up at the church. We brought them doughnuts." I smiled slightly. "They would pretend to be angry. They would say that those were only for the congregation..." We were both silent for what felt like forever. My breathing was ragged. "God, I have heard stories from friends and teachers. They said that they saw or heard a loved one that passed away somehow. Could you please let us see our parents again? Could we have a proper goodbye?" We were both silent again. Tears were running down our faces. Simultaneously, we did the sign of the cross and stood. "It was worth a try," Jamie said. I nodded. I plopped down on my bed and sighed. I shut my eyes. When I opened them again, I saw the spirits of my parents. I quickly sat up. "Mom? Dad?" Jamie was also staring in shock. "How?" My mother smiled. "Did you forget about your prayer already?" I gasped. "I can't believe it...even though we haven't been very faithful?" My father smiled too. "He figured that this would cement your faith for good." Jamie and I nodded rapidly. We would never doubt God again. "Unfortunately, we can't stay for long," my mother said sadly. I nodded. "I figured as much." Jamie got straight to the point. "We will get revenge on the Hybrid Hunters." My parents sighed, knowing that they wouldn't be able to change our minds. "Be careful. If you got hurt too..." My mother buried her head in my father's chest. "We are being careful. We found a waterfall deep in the woods. We are meeting two of our friends there. Amelia can turn invisible and Lilly is a light fairy hybrid." My parents shared a glance. "Girls...have they given you proof of their magic?" Dad asked. Jamie rolled her eyes. "No, why would we do that?" Her voice was full of sarcasm. "Of course! That was the first thing we did. Lilly let her wings show and Amelia turned invisible." Dad chuckled and turned towards Mom. "Apparently even in death we are victims of Jamie's attitude." Jamie and I smiled too. Jamie would never stop being sarcastic. We talked for a couple minutes then they faded out. Jamie and I got back in our beds and fell asleep.

When we went to the courtyard to eat breakfast, our friends could immediately tell that we were in a better mood. "Jake, we need to tell you something," Jamie said. He stood up and walked over. As we walked away, I turned and called out to the others. "Nothing against the rest of you. It's just...private." They nodded with understanding. Once we were out of earshot, Jake turned to us. "What's up? Is it about Helen and Isaac?" We nodded excitedly then explained what happened the night before. Excluding the discussion about magic, obviously. Jake was shocked. "That's amazing." We both nodded. "I know." We went back to the table and enjoyed breakfast with our friends.
