The first day of school was a couple weeks later. I yawned and stretched as my alarm went off. I heard Jamie whimpering softly. I chuckled and started shaking her. "Time to get up, sis." She sat up. "Uggghhh." I flipped the light on. We slowly got ready. Once we were done, we met Jake outside of his dorm. He looked miserable. "Did your roommate keep you up all night?" Jamie asked. He slowly nodded. "His name is Liam. He had a party." I shook my head. "Really? Why didn't you text us?" Jake sighed. "It was really late. I didn't want to wake you up." We started to walk to the food court. "Thanks for not waking us up," Jamie said. Jake smiled slightly. "No problem." We got food then sat down. Before too long, Lilly walked over to us with another girl. "Hello! This is my friend Amelia. This is her third year here. She is majoring in Architecture and minoring in Mathematics." I smiled. "I'm Lilly. I'm majoring in Psychology and minoring in Education." Jake, after yawning for a straight ten seconds, said, "Jake Grey. Major: Journalism. Minor: Literature." Jamie rolled her eyes. "He usually isn't so rude and concise. My name is Jamie. My major is Engineering, and my minor is Art." We continued to chat for a few more minutes, but I was carefully analyzing the two of them. Could either of them have magic?

I had Psychology and the Law first that day. The professor was an exuberant woman...that did not act like a psychologist. "Good morning! My name is Lisa Hopps and I am your Psychology and the Law professor. You can call me Lisa. I don't care for titles." We greeted her in return. "Let's go around the room. Everyone will say their name and something interesting about themself." Of course her gaze landed on me. She gestured for me to stand up. "My name is Ella Glynn..." I froze. I'm Ella Glynn and I am descended from mermaids. Does that work, Lisa? I shook my head lightly then continued. "I am a very strong swimmer." I quickly sat down, mortified. Ella, you are 18! How are you still so socially awkward? I paid close attention to the others. After everyone was finished, Lisa smiled at us. "Now it is time for a pop quiz. Who could tell me everyone's name and what they shared about themself?" After a split second, she broke out laughing. "Just kidding." She was still too late though. I had already raised my hand. My classmates looked at me, surprised. Lisa cocked her head. "You really think you can do it? Go ahead and try." Did I forget to mention that there were one hundred people in my class? I nodded then pointed to each person in turn. "Jeff Coxe is 'obsessed with flirting with hot girls.' Carl Jonson really enjoys reading. Erica Robbin likes to sing..." So I went on and on. I got everything right. Of course everyone was very surprised. Several people were asking me how I had remembered all of that. I told them that I had a really good memory. That wasn't a lie. As far as I knew, my memory had nothing to do with magic. The class finished soon after. The others passed in a blur too.
