We decided to stop at our apartment to kill some time before returning to Yale. We knew that our friends wouldn't be expecting us back for a few more hours. Plus, we didn't want to risk any students seeing our transformation back to our normal appearances. I pulled out my phone and texted Frank.

Jamie and I are at our apartment.

Okay.

A moment after Frank replied, we suddenly reverted back to our normal selves. I smiled. "I like this much better." Jamie smiled, looking at herself in the full-body mirror. "Agreed." I glanced at my phone. "We are supposed to be back in three hours. It takes about an hour to get to Yale from here. When should we leave." Jamie shrugged. "30 minutes? We will make it back just in time for lunch." I nodded. "Sounds good." We spent the next half hour preparing a story in case Thomas, Chris, Liam or Jake questioned us. I texted the group chat, letting them know that we would be back earlier than expected. They were all thrilled. I then texted just Amelia and Lilly to let them know that we were calling an emergency meeting. We would eat lunch with Jake, Liam, Thomas, and Chris then head to the waterfall. On the way to Yale, we decided to listen to music again to try to relax. Even so, we were tense when we got back. "Let's take our stuff up to our dorm then meet our friends in the courtyard," I said. She nodded. We each had two charms in our pockets. One for ourselves and one for either Lilly or Amelia. We quickly dumped our stuff in the dorm then got food. When we reached our friends, we hugged them. I hugged Thomas for a particularly long time. He bent down and kissed me. I smiled. "I missed you, Thomas." He returned the smile. "I missed you too, Bella." I rolled my eyes slightly then sat down. I glanced at Jake. "How is your grandmother doing?" He sighed. "Somewhat better. Right before I left, I was notified that she was being moved to a closer location. Now she is only 30 minutes away." Jamie grinned. "That's wonderful, Jake!" He looked sad. "Yeah. It is." Jamie and I shared a glance. He was acting strange. Still, we were soon distracted. "How did the funeral go?" Chris asked softly. We launched into our made up story. As soon as we were done, I spoke telepathically to Jamie. Let's leave soon. Amelia and Lilly know to wait a few minutes then follow. She nodded almost imperceptibly. I stood up. "Unfortunately, we need to unpack. See you guys later!" Jake started to call after us. "But we have had hardly any time to talk..." I felt bad, but pretended not to hear him. I was too excited to tell Amelia and Lilly what had really happened. As always, we started in the direction of the dorms, but turned towards the parking lot once completely out of sight.

When we reached the waterfall, we could hardly contain our excitement. We waited impatiently for Amelia and Lilly to arrive. It felt like we had been waiting for centuries when they came into view. "We have so much to tell you," I said. I turned and pushed the water apart. I longed to swim in it as a mermaid. Once we were in the cave, we both started ranting. We gave Lilly and Amelia their charms. "This is all so amazing!" Lilly said when we finished. "With these charms and the Magic Locator, we will be able to help so many people," Amelia added. We all smiled. "By the way," Lilly started, smiling. "We told everyone else that we're dating." I smiled as well. Her grin was infectious. "I'm so happy for you two! Just our friend group, I'm assuming?" Amelia paused. "Well, we said that we were fine with others knowing. Honestly, we both agreed that good friends will love us no matter who we're dating." I chuckled softly. "Yeah. I still loved my sister, even when she was dating Jeff." Jamie rolled her eyes but didn't respond. "But seriously, that's great." Amelia and Lilly looked so much happier, I could tell. It was great that they let go. And I honestly wanted to as well... I took a deep breath. "You know... I think we deserve a break. We deserve to let loose. We deserve to be ourselves." Lilly tilted her head. "What exactly do you mean?" I smiled. "I mean...we should transform... It's not fair, okay! Jamie and Lilly, you can show your wings here. Amelia, you can turn invisible all you want. But me? I can't transform into a mermaid because I need water. It has been so long since I have been able to transform. I need to see my tail again." I was breathing hard after the outburst. The three women shared a glance. They all nodded. "You're right. We deserve this." I grinned and dove through the waterfall, transforming before I hit the water. I swam through the water with ease. I floated on my back and flipped my tail up. The others came through, for once not minding getting wet. Lilly and Amelia stared at my tail in amazement. "It's gorgeous." I smiled. "I know." I inspected the glittery blue and purple scales. I started doing dolphin dives in the water. I suddenly froze when I heard a branch snap. My head jerked towards the forest. I didn't see anything. "Did you guys hear that?" I whispered, petrified. They all nodded. We were still and silent for a moment. After a bit, Jamie spoke. "Well surely a person would have revealed themself by now. It must have been an animal." I nodded. "Must have been." I tried to convince myself that Jamie was right, but for the next hour we spent there, I couldn't help but feel like I was being watched.
