When our last class before lunch's bell rang, I raced out of the door to meet up with Ella. The two of us found each other outside of the food court and we got subs for lunch. "Do you want to sit in the courtyard?" Ella asked. I nodded. "I mean, it looks like everyone else is going that way... so why not?" Ella rolled her eyes. "Yes, you're the type to be drawn towards the people... the opposite of me, and probably Jake." A voice came from behind us. "That sounds about right." I grinned and turned to him. "Hey Jake! We were about to go eat in the courtyard." He nodded. His black hair was just as messy as usual, and his blue eyes flashed. "Let's go."

We sat down to eat at a table in the courtyard. "So... how has it been so far?" I asked. Ella shrugged. "It's been cool. Mostly introductions, but all my professors are nice." Jake nodded along. "I agree. Honestly, it's nice to finally be able to study what I want. We only got one ELA class per year in high school." I grinned. Jake was quite the writer. "Yeah. It was fine for me too. I actually have a few classes with that girl we met earlier - Amelia." Ella smiled. "I hope I have some classes with either Lilly or Amelia. If not any of my regular classes, maybe the electives." Our electives were at the end of the day. Ella and I both had orchestra most days, but I had art on Wednesday and Friday. Meanwhile Jake was doing Creative writing and piano lessons. "Yeah, that would be cool. Orchestra seems most likely." I heard voices from behind me and I went silent. They were snickers. I turned around, giving them a strange look before I realized it wasn't aimed at us. There was a group of boys, and one of them was looking straight at me. The rest of them were laughing at him. "C'mon Jeff. Don't be such a chicken," One said. The boy- Jeff smirked and met my gaze. He had auburn hair and light green eyes that shone. Tall as well. Though I was pretty tall myself. I couldn't lie- he was handsome. He walked over to our table. "Hey there. My name's Jeff. You are?" I forced an uncaring smile. "Jamie." Jeff glanced back at Ella and Jake. "And these are..." he was specifically looking at Jake, which made me laugh out loud. "This is Ella, my younger sister, and that is our friend Jake." Jeff stared Jake down with a fake smile, which made me want to roll my eyes. Jake and I were best friends, despite what we had been called in the past. "Well then, I suppose this one isn't very talkative, huh?" Jake looked annoyed, but didn't respond. "We're just friends," I clarified. Jeff shrugged. "Whatever you say. I suppose that's a plus for me." He smirked again. I laughed. "Uh huh..." I paused, then said. "I suppose we can keep in touch." He started to swing at Ella. "Hey, aren't you that girl that I have Psychology and the Law with? The one that-" Ella cut him off, looking bemused. "The one that remembered that you are obsessed with flirting with hot girls? The one that remembered everyone's name and their interesting facts? Yeah. I have to say, my sister is a good choice. Sooo hot." She smirked at me. I smirked back and made my hair flicker slightly with flame, knowing only she would notice. "Yes, I noticed." I looked back at Jeff as he spoke. "Alright, if you really think so, have my number," I said, then told him my number. He told me his, and he went back to his friends. "So..." Ella said, giving me a look with sparkling eyes. I shrugged. "He's certainly interesting." I definitely wasn't lying with that. I had dated many people his type before- and honestly, people like him were my type, so possibly... Ella grinned. "I see that look on your face." I laughed nervously, "pfft," but I couldn't deny it. Jake was looking between us, slightly confused. "Well, I'm pretty sure he hates me... for existing, I guess." Ella and I chuckled. "Yeah, that happens. Sometimes having best friends does things like that," I said. Jake rolled his eyes. "It's very annoying." I paused, then looked at my phone. It was about 12:50, when lunch ended. "We should probably start going to class," I mentioned. We said goodbye and went our separate ways.
