I am getting pretty excited. Lilly seems like she might have magic too. She is also in the choir. Any time Lilly gets a compliment her hair and skin seem to glow. Maybe it is just a coincidence.... Or is she a light fairy? I mean she is really petite... Plus we spent a lot of time together yesterday. She is so sweet. I think her friend Amelia could have magic too. After all, those with magic will stick together. Anyway, Jamie mentioned starting a hybrid/magic group. I am tempted, but it's not like we can just walk up to people and say, "Hey! I can magically turn into a mermaid. Can you do something like that?" Maybe Jamie wants to risk getting killed or sent to jail, but I don't. It is getting harder to hide our secret from Jake. I just can't help but worry that his parents' opinion on magic will rub off on him.

I wrote that journal entry while still sitting in my bed. We slept in since we had been up late. The fact that we didn't get much sleep during the school week led us to sleep until 1:00. When Jamie and I went to the food court, the others were just then getting there too. "Did you just wake up too?" Jake asked us. "Yep," I said. Liam fake gasped. "How could you sleep so late? Just kidding...I woke up ten minutes ago." Jeff nodded. "Me too. Dave practically had to drag me out of my bed." Jamie frowned slightly. "Your roommate isn't one of the friends that cheated, is he?" Liam and Jeff shared a look. "Well that just answered my question," Jamie said with a sigh. Lilly, always one to look at the positives, said, "Well, maybe he had a good reason." Amelia and I scoffed simultaneously. "He sort of does," Liam said. "I agree with you that cheating is not okay. His parents are really successful. When he started failing classes in high school, they threatened to disown him." I was shocked. "Damn that is cruel," Amelia said. "Yeah, it is. That's why he decided to cheat. He feels so guilty, but his parents..." I sighed. "Enough said. I guess I can't judge him. Honestly, I probably would have done the same in that situation." We finished eating. "Do you guys want to go to my dorm?" Jeff asked. "Dave is out with his girlfriend." Everyone agreed. He had been looking at Jamie in particular. I couldn't help but feel nervous. I wouldn't say anything else to Jamie, since she clearly didn't appreciate my concern. Liam's warning had really stuck with me. Jamie was smitten, but I thought there was something off about him. I shook away those thoughts and followed my friends.

We had been in Jeff's dorm for a couple hours when I noticed something. Is it just me or does Amelia easily fade into the background? I swear I forgot she was here until she spoke, I sent to Jamie. I guess. A lot of people are like that, though. Are you analyzing the slightest signs of magic again? She replied. Yes. I think Lilly is a light fairy or has some sort of light powers. She makes me think of fairies. I swear she glows. I could practically hear Jamie sighing. I don't know. Anyway, let's just enjoy this time with our friends. Honestly, we've never had this many. With that, she cut off the connection. I gave her a smile from across the room. She was right. I needed to relax. I tuned back into the conversation. Jeff was grabbing something. "I just happen to have Sorry too." He dramatically pointed towards Jamie with a box in his hands. "I challenge you to a rematch. One on one." Jamie grinned. "Okay." They set up the game then began playing. Liam and Jake were betting on who was going to win. "20 bucks says Jeff is going to win." Liam said. "Uh-uh. Jamie is totally winning." Jake replied. "I will enjoy taking your money," Liam joked. "Don't underestimate my best friend," Jake said with a smirk. Jamie ended up winning the game. She destroyed Jeff. "You have failed me, man." Liam said as he pulled a $20 bill out of his wallet and handed it to Jake. "Don't blame him for losing. I'm just too Shit good." Jamie said. Jeff nodded. "Yeah. What she said." We spent a couple more hours talking then we went to the food court for dinner. When Jamie and I got back to our dorm, I smiled at her. "You know, I think I'm ready to attempt a magic/hybrid group."
