When I woke up I found myself really looking forward to going to Orchestra. Thankfully, my other classes flew by. I walked in and sat down. I put my flute together. I was always one of the first people there because I was already close. On Mondays and Tuesdays I had Psychology and the Good Life right beforehand. That classroom was directly across the hall. On Thursdays I had Social Contexts and Policies before. That classroom was also nearby. On that particular day, I was the first person in the orchestra room. I sat there, enjoying the peace and quiet. It didn't last long. It was interrupted by Thomas, the loudest and most obnoxious person in the world. We were rivals in high school and a lot of college. He was in the middle of telling Christopher a story. "...then that girl walked up to me and said I was the hottest guy she had ever seen. I said of course I am.." I snorted. "Was that girl blind?" I snapped. I was always snippy around him. In all honesty, I thought he was cute. I was not going to let him know that though. Thomas' head jerked around. "Bella, right?" I scowled. "You know very well that my name is Ella." He smiled at me. "Same thing." He continued talking to Christopher. "You know, I have been wondering why someone quiet like Christopher is friends with such a loudmouth... Oh wait! I think I figured it out. You chose a quiet guy as a friend because you are so obsessed with your voice. You chose Christopher because you thought he would not talk very much, therefore he wouldn't prevent you from hearing your own voice." To my surprise, Thomas still grinned at me. "Seems to me that you judge people quickly Bella." I stood up and got in his face... to the best of my ability. I always considered myself tall, but he was about a foot taller. "My name is Ella and I had plenty of time to judge you during high school," I said venomously." Still that dumb smile that made most girls melt. "I see you are still fiery." I rolled my eyes and turned on my heel. Soon after, more people arrived. Throughout the entire period, Thomas was cracking jokes that left everyone but me and Lilly in tears. As Jamie and I were leaving, he approached us. "So Bella, Chris told me that you two are doing a project together. Something about journals?" I ground my teeth and tried not to lose my temper. "Why do you care?" He shrugged. "Well it seems like you are being all secretive, but he is sharing everything. Why is that?" I glared. "None of your business. You know what? I will make sure that Chris reads all of the journal entries I write about how annoying you are." With that I hooked my arm in Jamie's and walked away. When we were out of earshot, Jamie laughed. "Will your feud ever end." I rolled my eyes. "It will if he matures. Unfortunately, I don't think Thomas Thornebrook has the ability to be mature." She laughed again. "I can't disagree." I wrote a journal entry about him, just as I had threatened, then we Facetimed our parents when we got to our dorm. The phone rang a few times before they answered. I let out a sigh of relief. "How are you two doing?" I asked worriedly. My parents shared a glance, causing Jamie and I to do the same. "Okay, I suppose," my mother said. "I have a feeling you are lying," I said. My dad sighed. "I have a feeling that you don't want the truth to be sugar coated. We are not fine. Both of us really need to go to the hospital, but are too scared to. We can't endanger other people like that. In fact, we have cut ourselves off from everyone but you two. Nobody else will die because of us this way." His voice became sour towards the end. Jamie and I glanced at each other again. Neither of us needed the telepathic link to know the other was thinking of Trevor. My mother looked as if she was on the verge of tears. "This is the hardest part. We have decided to remove contact with you two as well. We love you." She started sobbing. "Ella. Jamie. Be strong," my dad finished before hanging up.
