"So, what do you think?" Lilly asked me after a moment. I was struggling to make a decision. I loved Jamie and Ella, but what if they were trying to trick us all along? "I... I don't know," I whispered. "Well I think we should go," Lilly murmured. "I've never met any other hybrids besides you. And you're... you're the only person I have. We have each other and that's it. But with them..." her voice trailed off, but it was filled with hope. I bit my lip. "Okay. If you think it will be fine, let's do it."

"Shh! We need to be quiet," Lilly warned me. "They said to meet them by the waterfall." We held hands as we walked, and my heart was pounding. I paused. "What if they lied?" I whispered, a terrified tone overcoming my voice. Lilly bit her lip. "They wouldn't lie." I shook my head helplessly. "But they can suspect. And if we go to them, we'll be walking right into their trap..." my voice trailed off. "They are nice people. I doubt they would do that," Lilly argued, and I jerked my hand away. "Look, I don't want to get caught. They didn't even give us proof to show that they were like us." she sighed. "They couldn't have. You know someone would see." I paused, then nodded. "Well, we have to be ready to fight. And then run." We both came to an agreement and walked around the corner. There was a waterfall pounding into the ground, and Jamie and Ella stood next to each other. Jamie, who was wearing a long red coat, grinned and said, "Nice of you to show up." I pursed my lips. "So...?" I whispered. Ella smiled and turned around, raising her hands. The water in front of us parted, revealing a cave. My jaw dropped. "Come on," she whispered. "It'll be safer to talk behind there." Jamie nodded. The four of us walked through the waterfall and into the small cave behind it. The roaring of the water was thunderous, but it would keep us hidden. "So... you have water powers?" Lilly said. "Are you a hybrid or do you just have water magic?" Ella smiled, reaching out to touch the water. "I'm a mermaid. I wish I could show you my tail, but this probably isn't a good place." I nodded. "Alright. Well, I think we should skip all this and reveal our powers on the count of three," Jamie suggested. "Why not?" Lilly agreed, shrugging. "Okay... one... two... three!" Flaming red wings appeared on Jamie's back and she created a ball of fire above her hand, Lilly made her bright wings appear and shined with light, Ella made the water from the waterfall bend towards her, and I turned invisible. "...well, I sure feel boring now," I muttered as we all changed back to our regular appearances. "Nah. I think that's a cool power. How about we go around and tell each other our exact powers- or what kind of hybrid we are?" Jamie said. "I'm a light fairy," Lilly explained, still smiling like she always did. I never understood how she could do that. "I'm a fire dragon," Jamie said. "and I have invisibility powers," I murmured. Ella nodded. "Yeah. I figured for both of you." Lilly and I gave her a confused look. Jamie rolled her eyes. "My sister is very observant," she explained. I shrugged, then I couldn't help smiling softly. "It's amazing to have more people like us to be around," I whispered. "I know," Ella agreed, and she smiled too. "Is Jake also a hybrid? I know you guys are close friends," Lilly asked. Jamie shook her head and explained, "no, unfortunately. I kind of wish he was, but his whole family hates hybrids. He's less hateful than them, but he's still... you know..." I nodded solemnly. "But if he's really your friend, he'll love you anyway. He can learn from his family's wrongdoings!" Lilly reminded us. I flinched. It doesn't always turn out that way, I thought. Lilly always stayed positive. I wished I could be like her, but it was very difficult... I was still healing from my own problems, after all. Lilly had saved me. She was the only reason I was okay. "I hope so," Jamie whispered, which snapped me out of my thoughts. "Well, I'm just happy we all found each other," Ella said, then she paused, looking at Jamie. They both went quiet for a second, and I raised an eyebrow at them. "Oh!" Jamie gasped, looking back over to me and Lilly. "Ella and I also have a telepathic connection." I nodded. "Whoa. That's cool," Lilly said. "But anyways, we were thinking about... something," Ella interrupted. "Basically, we wanted to create a group to make us legal," Jamie explained. "We don't know exactly what we're doing yet, but we have a purpose." Lilly and I were both silent. We looked at each other for a long moment, contemplating. I gave her a short nod. Then a grin spread across my girlfriend's face. "We're in.
