Since Ella was going to work on the project in our dorm, I decided to leave them alone. I asked Sophie - whose number I had gotten during class, if I could go to her dorm to work on the project. Sophie was sweet, but pretty shy. She was obviously nervous about writing her own part. Other than that, it went smoothly. I got back to my dorm around eight. To my surprise, Ella and Thomas were still working. Thomas was goofing around, as usual, and Ella hadn't noticed me come in, so I snuck around them and went into the bedroom. I flopped down on my bed and pulled out snacks, flipping open my laptop. I didn't know when Ella was going to be done, so I decided to start watching a show. It turned out a lot longer than I expected. Ella finally came into our bedroom at ten. "So... you had a long night, huh?" I said, closing my laptop and sitting up. "We lost track of time," Ella explained. I grinned. "Of course you did." She sighed, shaking her head, then she sat down on her bed. "It's a hard project," she protested. "Uh huh." Ella clearly knew she couldn't continue arguing, so she laid down. "Well, I'm exhausted. I'm going to sleep," she said. I laid down as well, trying to get comfortable. "Goodnight," I whispered, but Ella had already passed out.

At lunch the next day, Ella ran off to another table with Thomas to go "come up with ideas". So it was just me and the others. I came over to our regular table with Jake. We were laughing at an old memory of ours. "Hey," Jeff said. I could tell he was still a little tense, but hey, at least he was trying. I loved him, so I couldn't stay mad for long. We sat down at the table. Lilly was talking to Amelia, but when she saw us she smiled widely. "Hi! How are you guys?" She asked. I could tell she was thinking about our group. I simply nodded and smiled. "Pretty good... for everything going on." Liam looked confused, so I explained our story again. I wished our parents would call us again. Oh how I wished. I thought about our group's meeting tomorrow. We still didn't have a good name. Or any ideas of what we could do. If only the cave was bigger and we could create some sort of safe house for hybrids to stay in. But there was no way that was happening. Maybe Lilly and Amelia had more ideas. I really hoped so.

Ella and I sat in our room, talking about tomorrow evening. "I should probably text them," I muttered. Ella tensed. "Be careful what you write." I nodded.
Are the four of us still going out tomorrow?
Yes.
I sighed with relief. "They're coming." Ella didn't react. Instead, she asked, "What if it's useless?" Silence. For a moment, I had no answer for that. Then I smiled comfortingly and said, "don't worry about it. We need to help hybrids. Some are suffering even more than we do. It's not useless." Ella paused, then nodded. "I know," she whispered. "But I'm not sure if there's anything we can do." I bit my lip. "We have to try." Neither of us could argue with that. "Let's go to sleep. We need plenty of rest for tomorrow," Ella said. I nodded, and we got up to get ready for bed.

At breakfast, Lilly, Amelia, Ella, and I kept sharing glances. We were all nervous. The others could tell, and they looked over at us, as if expecting us to speak out about it."Sooo... Chris, how's the orchestra project going for you?" I asked, attempting to change the subject. Christopher blinked. "Oh, fine," he muttered. "We're not very far through it, but we do have three weeks." I laughed and jokingly said, "It's bad to procrastinate." Christopher shook his head, eyes wide. "No- we're trying our best." Ella rolled her eyes. "Don't worry about her. My sister is a hypocrite. She never gets her work done until the last second." I chuckled nervously. "Hey, at least I finish it," I pointed out. I did feel a little bad. I hoped I didn't hurt Christopher's feelings. I was relieved when he broke out into a grin. "You sound like Thomas." That got him elbowed. "Hey!" Thomas said. We all laughed, but the thought of the secret meeting later lingered in the back of my mind, never leaving.
