As DuBuis was driving himself and Alfred to work Alfred was experiencing the oddest phone conversation he had ever had in his life.

With Roman , that nephew of Nicholas' who Lyle said was stalking him. Why was he calling him? He wasn't even going to ask how he got the number. He was hardly stupid and had trained himself to hack as a bored lonely child who had been isolated from the world. There was nothing truly private on the internet.

" I want to take you out to dinner," Roman commanded briskly. " Your face is delectable. We will leave for Paris on the company jet Friday night. Dinner. The weekend there. Good food and real culture. You will be sorry to return. "

Alfred was astonished. He had never had this happen to himself before. Even with Scott. He had met Scott in a grocery store after he had gotten unbalanced and ran into a display of chips. Scott had helped him up and picked up the mess. Thus a relationship had been born. But no weekend trips to Paris. That was ridiculous.

" I don't think so," he replied with surprise. " I'm very flattered. Really I am. But..... I have someone else I'm interested in. But again thank you. "

At the last part DuBuis' ears perked up with much curiosity.

Roman snapped ," Who ? What is the fellow's name? "

Alfred wanted to laugh. This was just too far fletched. Nothing like this happened to him. "I don't think that is any of your business. "

" But it is. It is my business. I thought you were beautiful. Delectable. At least your face but I was willing to overlook your failings. I did not know the treacherous brutality and coldness of your heart. You are not better than the other one. "

" What? What are you talking about? Other one? If you are talking about Lyle leave him alone. "

At the mention of Lyle DuBuis was really interested now. " Who is that, Alfred? "

Roman laughed. " Now that is none of your business. Is it ?"

Then he whistled an odd little tune and hung up.
