" I can't believe you let him go to a damn riot ! ," Dr. Gordon Kendall screamed at his wife Ariel as they stood on either side of Alan as he sat up looking embarrassed on the stretcher in the St. Paul's ER.

" I'm fine, Mom , Dad ," Alan said but they both just ignored him and continued arguing with each other.

Ariel pursed her lips. " It was not supposed to be a riot. It was a field trip as part of the civic class. "

Gordon placed his hands on the stretcher and leaned toward his wife. " You still had no business signing that permission slip. I suppose you were too busy transforming the White House or something to focus on our son's well being. You know he is fragile since the cancer. "

Alan swallowed. " I'm not fragile. I....."

Ariel snapped," And you were too busy doing heart surgery. Or drooling over that secretary of yours. I know about her. "

" And I know about you and the pool boy. This is all the negative influence of that Rochester boy. That family of his is too odd. Like that shoot out at their house several days ago. I'm glad that Alan stopped seeing him. "

Alan grew colder for some reason. " Actually Theodore's family had nothing to do with what..........."

Gordon said coolly," Alan Frederick, be quiet. I'm talking to your alleged mother. "

Alan put his head in his hands and sighed loudly. Then his phone beeped with an incoming text. He took it out his jeans pocket. Theodore. He smiled. He was still upset about the kiss but after today it didn't seem to matter as much. He still saw Theodore pulling that bigot creep off him. He still could feel the warmth of Theodore's kiss. They were not officially back together but maybe......If they did get back together he wanted to make sure he wasn't treated like a doormat again.

Ariel laughed harshly. " I'm the alleged parent? I'm the alleged parent, you say. That's funny. You did think you were his father. Didn't you? "

Alan was about to respond to his boyfriend, ex boyfriend, via text when his mother's words sank in suddenly.

What the hell?
