At the courthouse Jeremiah was standing in a far corner of the floor that Faith's case was being tried on. In one hand he held his travel thermos full of his sister's delicious walnut flavored coffee. In the other he gripped a cell phone on which he said in a low determined voice," Get him back to the firm. Now. "

On the other end Nigel watched as the nurse was giving Richard his discharge papers and prescription for an antibiotic and painkiller. He asked in a similar low voice," Why ? I don't think he's ready to go back to work. He's doing better physically but he still can't remember anything. "

As low as Nigel was speaking something about the urgency of his hushed speech alerted his husband whose grey eyes moved from the nurse over to Nigel.  And they narrowed.

Jeremiah said firmly," Doesn't matter. He needs to come back to protect his own interest. "

Nigel furrowed his brow. " What do you mean?"

" I mean that he needs to return to the firm immediately and protect his business interests there. You didn't hear this from me. If you say you did I'll deny, deny , deny it. But he has enemies at the company. High up enemies that want him out. So get him back there. Ready or not. "

Then Jeremiah hung up briskly without a farewell. He sighed and put his phone on vibrate before putting it into his suit jacket pocket. He hoped Nigel could convince Richard to come back because he really didn't trust Claire. Ethan either but more so Claire. She was ruthless and bloodless which was what made her such a shark with divorces. He wasn't so sure he wanted to work at the firm under just Claire and Ethan. But he didn't know what his next move would be. If there would be a next move that was.

He turned to see Amanda rushing towards him in her crisply pressed light blue dress and matching low heeled pumps. She actually seemed more frantic than usual. Dear God what had happened now ? Another bomb threat?

" What? ," he asked sharply.

Amanda sighed dramatically. " We have an issue. "

Jeremiah lifted an eyebrow and just waited.

" Our client Detective Faith Lane is currently in the bathroom sick as a dog. She's puking out all her guts. She's also drunk. "

Jeremiah cussed softly. " Well fuck me. "

Amanda instinctively laughed. " Not now, Janice. Not ever. "

Jeremiah looked at her with disdain and irritation. " My name is Jeremiah. And we need to sober up her ass before court starts. Or Handel will be pissed if he detects she is wasted. The man is a demon for court rules. No phones in his courtroom. And no drunks either. Especially defendants. " Then he paused and thought to himself for a second. "I'm going to talk to Handel's court clerk to see if we can get a postponement for today. Handel hates that too but if it's sickness he'll do it. Once. And only once. Wish me luck. "
