It was early in the morning when Steve Rogers started his run, he and Emma Diament whom he'd formed a close friendship with often went running in the morning's, Steve got a head of Emma a lot of the time running more laps than her, like always.
This time however, someone else was running in Central Park with them, so while Steve was running past the two saying "on your left." as he ran past, Emma was acquainting herself with Sam Wilson, who was getting sick of Steve saying the same thing every time he ran past.
"Sam, don't bother, you won't catch up with him." said Emma, the heart and neurosurgeon shook her head as Sam started running to try and catch up with Steve, Emma had actually been hired by SHIELD after New York and became their best doctor and the only one Natasha and Clint trusted enough, but she still had her normal job at the hospital in Malibu.
Emma laughed as she saw Sam leaning against a tree trying to catch his breath from all the running he's been doing, Emma opened her mouth. "Don't say it." Sam warned her as Steve showed up.
"You need a medic?" Steve asked.
"I need a new pair of lungs." Sam replied.
Emma chuckled at that, Steve glanced at her and smiled, causing the woman to smile in return, Sam rolled his eyes at their obvious love for each other.
"Dude, you just ran 30 miles in 13 minutes."
"I guess I got a late start."
"Oh, really? You should be ashamed of yourself. You should take another lap." Sam hesitates before speaking again this time sarcastically. "Did you just take it? I assume you just took it."
"What you unit you with?" Emma asked causing Steve and Sam to look at her with surprise, Emma shrugged, "I was a nurse in the army, I joined in '98 and left in '01."
"58, Pararescue. But now I'm working down at the VA." Sam replied.
Sam lifts his hand for Steve to shake who takes it. "Sam Wilson." he introduces himself. "Steve Rogers and this is Emma Diament but I assume you've already met and introduced yourselves." said Steve helping Sam stand up.
"We have." Emma confirmed, "I kind of put that together," Sam said referring to Steve's introduction, "must've freaked you out coming home after the whole defrosting thing." Sam elaborates.
"It takes some getting useful, Emma was really helpful, it was nice meeting you Sam." Steve said as he turned to go, with Emma following when Sam speaks again. "Steve? It's your bed, right?" Steve and Emma turn back around.
