Akshara was pacing the room, trying to rehearse her little presentation which she was supposed to give to Mr. Mehta's son and she was marginally freaking out. The sum they were asking for was practically obnoxious but running Seva was no easy feat, it wasn't like she was asking for the money to use it herself, plus she had gone over the numbers at least 10 times and Vansh Bhai had called her and assured her everything looked great after she had begged him to look over it the third time. Public speaking was really not her forte and she was so nervous that she could feel her heart rate spiking up which was probably not good for her babies.
Breathing in deeply, she shook her head and eased her pacing to gentle steps as she whirled the pen in her hand, reading over the papers.
"Jaan" a pair of strong arms snaked around her waist from behind her making her jolt up in surprise as she accidentally let the papers in her hand go causing them to fly high up in the air before tumbling down in a shower of numbers and little words.
Placing a hand across her throat to calm her gasps, she pulled the hair on her mischievous husband's arm before smacking it gently.
"Stop scaring me like this, give a girl some warning Monster." She said with a small huff trying to not let him see how much he startled her but as he let her go and came face to face with her, she didn't have the heart to yell at him, he looked so sheepish but also so cute that she only shook her head, pointing to the ground to make him pick the papers up but her Abhimanyu wouldn't have let her pick them up anyway, instead getting on his knees in front of her and grabbing the papers. Taking a pit stop to kiss her belly, he rose before giving her her own perfunctory kiss. Biting the insides of her cheek, she rolled her eyes before grabbing the pile of papers from his hand and huffing over to the bed to get them in order.
"What are you even doing?" without looking at him, she knew his lovely lips would be formed into a little pout because god forbid Akshara not pay attention to him while he was around.
"My presentation, remember???" she said tapping the top sheet once and giving him her best grin as he covered the distance between them with his long strides.
Tipping the tip of her chin up with his finger he stared into her eyes for a long time, a flash of concern flashing in his eyes but before she could address it, he quickly covered it, letting out a breath of air "Right, it will be okay! Don't worry, you will do great." Akshara felt like his heart wasn't really into it for some reason and it made the hair on the back of her neck rise, first with apprehension and then with slight anger. Why was he being this way?
Swatting his hand away, she got up in a flash, pitching her hands across her hips and glaring at him "What the hell is the matter with you? You said I was cleared to work a bit so is it me going to work? Is it something else? What is it?" she asked and even to her own ears she could feel her voice pitching higher and higher. Blowing a puff of air out she tried to get her sudden spike of anger back in control trying to dissect how much of it was her stupid hormones and how much of it was genuine hurt?
"Sorry, it's nothing. I was just worried" Abhimanyu said raising his hands up, palms out in surrender but Akshara wasn't entirely convinced that he wasn't hiding something from her, so she kept glaring at him waiting for him to expand further on his thoughts.
"It's nothing, it's stupid." As his arms came around her waist and gently pulled her into his embrace, she let out a long sigh, breathing in his wonderful scent and letting her anxiety go. It was clear that he didn't want to talk to her about it and honestly Akshara was too nervous to get into it right now, her stomach was tied into knots and every breath brought with it the possibility of her failing.
