Abhimanyu grinned down at Akshara curled up on her side on the bed next to him, a deep indent between her eyebrows as whatever she was thinking of made her upset in her sleep, her full, pink lips were conformed into a soft pout making her look so damn cute that he couldn't help but touch her and wish that she was up right now.
With a practiced gentleness he raised his thumb over her frown, carefully easing the frown away until her forehead smoothed itself and look of serenity crossed her face making her lips tilt up just slightly into a small smile, a soft sigh leaving her mouth. His grin stretched into a lovesick smile when his little monkey moved her cheek around under his hand, seeking his warm palm. With one eye peeled towards the clock, Abhimanyu gently stroked her cheek his mind flitting to their fight that morning.
Despite Akshara's body contorted around his thigh currently, he silently chuckled at the reminder that his wife was currently pissed at him and was engaging with him in a one way cold war. Gently caressing her face with his fingers, he looked at the pink in her cheeks and could only think of her as the grumpy monkey from a couple of hours ago. Abhimanyu had only just gotten back home from the hospital after a long tiring day and all he had wanted to do was spend time with his wife. Akshara had been walking in the grass on their private balcony barefoot and humming to a tune only she could hear. Not wanting to startle her, he had waited in the sidelines, feet crossed one over the other an arms crossed across his chest observing his wife with the twinkle in his eyes.
Maybe he had unknowingly created some noise akshara suddenly whirled around her hair flying gloriously behind her and her face broke out into a wide grin, the next moment she was running towards him and her arms went behind his neck her little body trying to jump up to have easy access to his neck. Abhimanyu's arms braised across her waist and he helped her up smiling into her neck as she wrapped her legs around him mumbling a, "I missed you so much. Where were you?"
Slowly walking the two of them to the little day bed Akshara had made her own, he pulled her away from his chest, and sat on the edge of the soft mattress smiling and telling her about his day and wanting to know about hers in return but mid conversation, Akshara started stroking her hands behind his back, before gently tugging the hair at the nape of his neck. Abhimanyu tried everything in his power to not let out that he knew exactly what she was doing, wanting to see how far she would go, his chest tight with anticipation.
When the gentle tugging of the hair didn't work, Akshara tried to pull on the hair more insistently but Abhimanyu pretended to not recognize it out loud, continuing to chatter aimlessly with her about his day and the staff gossip he had heard through the grapevine. He could tell Akshara was getting frustrated but he was almost a hundred percent sure that she would not be voicing her needs, watching in amusement as she moved her hips around, slowly inching closer and closer. If he didn't do anything soon enough, she would have definitely felt him through his jeans and his whole ruse would have been up.
" ....And then Rutu said something about it to me" as soon as the words were out of his mouth he wanted to take them back but then he would have missed the glorious sight of his wife, her cheeks flushed red, her eyes flashing with anger and the remnants of her desire for him, both things battling viciously until he knew the anger had won, her entire body was coiled tighter than a guitar string and now Abhimanyu was the one spluttering and without warning, her brought his face closer to hers, dipping down until he could soother her anger away with a brief kiss.
The kiss surprisingly worked and he grinned into it when he felt her cold hands dip under his sweater and the hesitant touch of hers he could recognize even on his deathbed, taking a hammer to his heart already week and softened for her. Unfortunately his phone peeled loudly from across the room and Abhimanyu had to frustratedly pull his hands out from under her dress and deposit her on the bed before stomping over to grab his phone from the counter and answering it.
