"Three more nights monkey, we got this." He tried to pacify her as she clung to him refusing to let him go after the guests dispersed from the mehendi event. Her nose was smushed into his neck and every time she got like this, he knew there was no moving her.
"I just want to get back to our regular life" her voice sounded so hoarse that he felt his chest ache.
Rubbing her back slowly he kissed the top of her head still buried into his neck. "3 days until you will be Mrs. Birla again" he mumbled about to rest his cheek on top of her head but she moved away staring up at him "I don't care what you think Abhimanyu. I have been Mrs. Birla since the past 9 months and I will forever be Mrs. Abhimanyu Birla" he was so flabbergasted at her unwavering voice that he stared at her bug eyed. Where had this version of his wife come from? She had sung for him in front of the crowd and moved the floor beneath his feet and now this?
But he wasn't wrong because her pink cheeks indicated that she had reached the end of her rope and she fell back into his chest, her arms still on her sides letting her henna airdry.
Smiling down at her squirming figure he pulled her tighter into his chest, letting his thumbs rub her sides "My monkey" he whispered, throwing his head back in laughter when she rubbed her lips into his neck, too shy to speak now.
"The two of you are ridiculous, I will throw up if I see you guys making out now." Rishi said in the background, and he could feel Akshara stilling in his hold. Abhimanyu had to look heavenwards to beg for some semblance of quiet so that he could peacefully kiss his beautiful wife and tell her how much he loved her singing to him and how it had impacted his heart.
Maybe it was Abhimanyu's glare in his direction that made Rishi almost stumble and take a couple of involuntary steps back, raising his palms out "I mean do whatever you want...jeez" he said slinking away once he realized that Abhimanyu refused to let Akshara turn in his hold and look at her brother. He barely got to touch her so he wasn't going to let her go so soon, especially when her car wasn't here yet.
"Yo Lovebirds" Rishi yelled from all the way across the space making Akshara giggle into his chest, he would have done anything for this giggle, even tolerate her irritating brothers.
Rolling his eyes he yelled back a loud "what" startling his poor wife before she rubbed her nose back on his chest. Smirking slightly Rishi made kissy faces before dissolving into peals of laughter and choking out a "you can drop her home Abhimanyu but leave because I see Kairav coming this way to get Akshu" saying that the idiot peeled away like his tail was on fire, probably not willing to be caught by Kairav.
He was correct, he liked Rishi the best, especially since he had given them this respite. "C'mon baby" he murmured and grabbed her arm pulling her away to his car. Abhimanyu ran the back of his fingers on her pink cheeks and kissed her forehead gently before getting her situated in the seat so she could keep her mehendi intact. As he pulled away to get to his seat she whispered a small thank you making his chest ache.
He huffed loudly when he realized he couldn't hold her hand as he drove and while her presence was all that mattered to him, it didn't make it suck any less, he just needed to physically hold her and feel her hands in his. Pouting slightly he looked at her from the corner of his eyes to see her grinning at him and wriggling her brows "and you call ME transparent" she giggled and Abhimanyu had to press his lips to not let the amusement show on his face.
"Oho forgive me for wanting to hold my wife's hand. God forbid." He choked out making her laugh even louder. He was going to prolong his teasing but she sobered up slightly and grinned at him with her eyes shining brightly.
