His mind was spinning at a thousand miles per hour, but a majority of it was because he was missing his wife and his babies. Sure, he sort of knew why Akshara was mad at him and if the roles were reversed, he would probably not feel so great about things as well. I mean if Akshara's past lovers constantly interfered in their peaceful life he wasn't sure he could be as accommodating as his wife had been and that's why sometimes when both him and Akshara knew that she was being irrational, he couldn't bring himself to find fault with it because for sure he would've gotten violent if the roles were reversed.
One thing he was certain of and he was sure Akshara knew in her heart as well was that their relationship was solid and these menial things weren't scary now because their love was everlasting and that filled his chest with a breath of relief knowing that this wasn't an end but just a hitch in the road, that he could very well deal with. He just had to find a way to make things up with his upset wife and in all honesty spoiling her and loving her was so damn easy that he knew things would be back to normal soon, not that he wasn't amused by Akshara's antics. He also had spoken to Rishi in the morning and knew that Akshara was fine so with that assurance locked deep in his pocket, Abhimanyu went about his day, seeing his patients and doing his rounds.
"Sir uh..." Abhimanyu was in the middle of his rounds when a nurse he knew to be working in the emergency dept cornered him, stuttering her words. His patience was already wearing thin so when she abruptly interrupted his conversation with his patient, he turned around ready to snap at whoever had dared to commit this faux pas.
"What?" he snapped at the poor nurse, but he couldn't bring himself to regret it yet, his head was pounding and he needed sleep so badly.
"Akshara madam." The nurse gulped, barely looking him in the face but suddenly Abhimanyu's heart was pounding in his ears, and he was sure he got tunnel vision, his brain taking him back to that moment when he found Akshara bleeding profusely on the gurney, her life slowly draining out of her.
The nurse was talking and through his panic he heard a few words filter in but his feet worked on their own accord as he ran mumbling an apology behind his back to his patient and almost shoving the papers in the nurse's hand letting her deal with it, his pace speeding up to get to his wife, his eyes clouding with red. As his feet took him to the emergency room on its own accord, his heart pounding, he came to a shocked standstill finding Raj holding a limp Akshara in his arms, yelling at the staff to find a bed. While it did shock him to his core, Abhimanyu couldn't bring his eyes to peel away from Akshara's face trying to figure out what the problem was as he scrutinized every inch of her to figure out what the problem was, especially as he found Akshara still unconsciously holding on to her stomach. Fuck.
"Akshara" he yelled out, coming out of his trance and running towards Raj, barely paying attention to the dickwad who had his arms around his goddamn wife.
"Wha... uh what's wrong?" he asked Raj through the corner of his mouth, refusing to look the man in the eye, needing to hold Akshara desperately but until he wasn't sure what the problem was, he wasn't going to jostle his wife and make things worse.
"Uh, she was ok Abhi. We were meeting and talking about uh...something and I don't know what happened, she just went and passed out. I tried getting her back to consciousness and she did seem coherent for a bit but then she wouldn't stay up." Abhimanyu was lost for words at the barrage of information, but then slight clarity returned to him, bit by bit.
"Ok. That's ok. I'll take her." He nodded, wiping his face with his hands to ease the trembling in them before reaching out to take Akshara out of Raj's arms and walking out of the emergency room with the idiot trailing behind him. Akshara wiggled lightly before turning her face into Abhimanyu's chest and the remaining stress left his body as he held on to his wife tighter, making her curl up even further into him, pacifying his erratic heart.
