He felt her pulling away and grunted into their kiss needing to prolong their contact for a little longer, but she seemed adamant to put some distance between them. He had known something wasn't right because while she seemed overall happy, it just felt a tad bit dimmed.

Pecking her lips once, he pulled away but refused to let her waist go and peered down at her flushed cheeks. "what is it baby?" he asked again hoping this time would be different and she would actually respond but she merely shook her head burying her face back into his chest mumbling something unintelligible. Okay then...

Not wanting to push on it a lot especially because she seemed to be avoiding looking at him, he reluctantly let her go but couldn't bring himself to leave her hand quite yet.

"I just missed you" she whispered from next to him and it eased a little bit of his worry even if he couldn't quite believe her.

"You guys can't keep disappearing every chance you get." Vansh yelled from across the room the moment they came into the light from the shadows, and everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to laugh at the couple. Groaning once he turned to look at his wife who was squirming under the spotlight, bright red in the face and Abhimanyu smiled softly at the vision she made. This was his favorite color on her after all.

Akshara tried to get her hand out of his clasp muttering a "let me go monster" and finally after long minutes of teasing her he let her get back to her friends as he walked over to his circle grabbing a much needed drink along the way. Every few minutes his eyes would seek her out and as she got more and more alcohol in her tiny body, whatever was making her sad seemed to have taken a back burner and Akshara really was enjoying the night like he had wanted her to. A loud involuntary groan left his mouth when she saw her dancing with her friends shaking her hips and throwing her hands in the air, her stunning silky hair flowing behind her like a waterfall.

It took every bit of willpower he possessed to stand rooted to his spot and pay attention to what his friends were saying and to not stomp over to his gorgeous wife and pull her into some secluded room and ruin her innocence.

"disgusting" Nimay said from next to him bringing him out of his reverie.

"uh..what?" he wasn't totally sure his cheeks weren't pink because he had in fact been caught checking his wife out like a damn predator.

"You, you fool." Nimay shook his head at him clapping him on the back "You have been married for months, why are you behaving like this? Most married couples lose their spark in the first year" sure they might lose their spark but Abhimanyu was sure that it would never happen with him and Akshara. What he felt for her was beyond the realms of normal human love, there was never going to be a world in which he would tire of her. Every little attribution of hers made him crazy with want and need.

"That's not going to happen to us" he said to his friend in annoyance, irritated when his friend doubled down in laughter.

"I was just teasing you Abhi. The way you two look at each other makes me want to believe in love and marriage, I'm not going to lie." This last sentence intrigued Abhimanyu and he turned to his friend, an eyebrow raised in question.

"And? You have someone in mind?" he asked but Nimay couldn't quite meet Abhimanyu's eyes, shaking his head fervently. Abhimanyu was about to ask him some follow up questions especially with the way his friend was behaving but just then Kairav announced loudly that they were cutting a cake and passing around shots for everyone to take.

All his inquisitiveness left him when he saw Akshara standing in the middle of the room on barely steady feet, her face illuminated by the glow of the candles emitting from the big cake kairav and vansh had wheeled out closer to her. From the first day of their marriage, his breath had hitched in his throat when he saw her wearing white, so it was fitting that she was finally wearing something white which belonged to him, like a stamp of him over her. Angelic and innocent, his monkey.
