Abhimanyu gaped at her blushing face trying to string words together to form a sentence. He had created a monster because the Akshara he knew and loved would never have done what she just did. Ok to be fair, he was the one who had tried to discourage her from her line of questioning first, but he had never expected her to flip the game around and how?

"I- you-" he spluttered before clearing his throat and pulling his pants up, still staring at her in shock but thankfully his Akshara was slowly coming back. Before he could follow through with what he had wanted to say, Akshara had buried her flaming face into her hands and was refusing to look at him.

Grinning he pulled her hands away, but she kept staring at the floor. He was sure that if he cracked an egg on her cheeks, it would be fried within seconds with how deep her blush was running, her cheeks had to be on fire. Groaning at how cute she was, he lifted her chin up with his thumb "Baby" he whispered. However, the moment his neck was in her line of sight, it was game over.

She pressed her heated cheek on his neck and Abhimanyu had to bite back a grin. "Tell me what you were talking about" she stuttered but rather than her seduction tactics, her sweet demands were what would do him in. Kissing the top of her head he answered "monkey, I can't tell you and spoil a surprise for you now, can i?"

"A surprise for me?" she questioned after a while and sounded and looked so embarrassed that he had to pull her into his lap.

"Imagine you did all of that and you couldn't even find out what the surprise was." he teased and like expected she shivered slightly before groaning like she was in pain, digging her nails into the back of his shirt.

"D...don't" she muttered but he just needed to irk her a bit more.

"Who would've thought my little shy monkey would get on her knees for me and how..." instantly she pulled away from his hold and shimmied over to her side of the bed, turning her back to him and pulling the covers over her head.

"I was just saying that it was very un-monkey like for you" he grinned as he settled on the bed next to her. "I hate you" she mumbled from under the covers making him chortle deeply. If she wasn't this cute, he wouldn't have been this entertained by her shyness.

"No you love me" he whispered in her ear before pulling her close and settling in behind her, ready to sleep. He genuinely hadn't expected a response but when she mumbled in the smallest voice possible "I do love you" he felt like his heart would beat itself out of his chest. He had never expected his love to be reciprocated and somewhere inside he was content with just loving her and showing her how precious she was to him but the amount of care, concern and love she had shown him in the past 2 days had been overwhelming. If he had thought he was content before, now he was hungry, hungry for her love and care. Hungry with need for her, a fire had been lit under his skin by her confession and it was always at a slow simmer where every word or touch of hers brought it to a raging inferno.

She hadn't spoken about going back to the house and he definitely wasn't going to be the one to bring it up. His home was where she was and right now, she wanted to be with her friend so that's where he was staying as well. Anisha's engagement was coming up and there was still a pinch in his heart every time his father or anyone else spoke to him about it in passing. Him and Anisha had been like two peas in a pod growing up and he wasn't used to this snare in their relationship but even then, he knew he would miss the engagement a thousand times over if it meant Akshara could be happy and safe. He just wished things were different and Anisha hadn't hurt Akshara like she had. All her apologies would never make him forget Akshara's tear filled eyes and so he never brought going back to the Birla house up, spending all his nights with her at her apartment. He was content but more than that, Akshara was happy.
