~CONTEXT~
You and Austin have been close friends for years; you met when you were 19 and hadn't long graduated high school, and have been best friends ever since. From the very moment you met, the chemistry was insane and it was as if you had been friends your entire lives. You spent almost every weekend together, hanging out at each others houses, going on holiday with each others families, having days out with one another and traveling the world together. There was very rarely times that you weren't together, every waking seconds you guys were practically attached at the hip and nobody could separate you, no matter what they did.
However, all of that changed when Austin became famous. Once he got his big break through with the ELVIS movie in 2022, you very rarely heard from him, it was as if he had forgotten about you. Whether he was touring to different countries doing interviews, doing red carpet events, press conferences etc, it seemed as if this new fame and this new life had completely taken over him and he was too famous to talk to you. As much as it hurt, and as much as you missed him, there was nothing you could really do. He had made it clear that he was too busy to maintain your friendship, and partly made it clear that your friendship no longer mattered to him, so you left him alone. You stopped calling, you stopped texting, you stopped checking his location, you stopped watching anything with him in it or anything that mentioned him to help you move on from it. You were devastated of course, this was your best friend of 12 years and all of sudden he just ditches you and your long friendship because of what? New-found fame. Did he see himself as too important for you now? Did he think that you weren't on a high enough level to associate with? Whatever it was, it hurt you and pissed you off at the same time.
You started moving on with life, no longer paying any mind to him and just getting on with yourself, not wanting to keep yourself in a constant depressive state just because your closest friend no longer had time for you. Though, this would be interrupted by the sound of a sudden and unexpected knock on your door. As you opened it, you could've sworn that your heart stopped beating right then and there, your eyes almost flew out of your head you were that stunned. Austin had just shown up at your house; no warning or no letting you know, after months of ignoring you. What was this about? You wanted to scream at him, you wanted to ask him all the questions you had festered up in your mind over time, you wanted to let him know how much he hurt you, but you just couldn't. All you could do, was close the door on him, but that approach didn't even work as he stopped it with his foot, giving you a pleading look and asking you to just hear him out.
He explained the entire situation, apologising over and over and over again for the way he's been, telling you that he didn't mean to ignore you, he didn't mean to stop talking to you, he's just been incredibly busy with everything going on lately and he hasn't had time to talk to anyone, not just you. As frustrated as you were, and as much as he had hurt you with this situation, you just couldn't stay mad at him. This is the man you have been friends with for 12 years, someone you had grown to be so close to that you were practically the same person, there was no way that you actually believed you could live a life without him. As his words processed and you let yourself think, you forgave him and the two of you made up, and after that moment, you went back to being close again, if anything your friendship was now stronger than ever, and now he was doing everything in his power to make sure that your friendship never suffered like that again, neither of you wanting to go that long without one another's presence.
~CURRENT~
Over the past couple weeks you had been talking with a man you met on tinder, going back and forth with getting to know one another and talking about anything and everything. He seemed like a really nice guy and you enjoyed talking to him, so you mentioned to him the idea of meeting up in person for a date. It seemed as if he was just as interested in you as you were him, because he didn't even hesitate to take up your offer, making plans almost immediately to meet at a restaurant in town; have a couple drinks, a nice meal and use the opportunity to get to know each other more in person. The plans were set and you couldn't wait, anticipation for the date ahead of you growing more and more as the days go on.
