Edmund managed to catch up with the others as the once grand castle melted and crumbled around them.
Reaching the courtyard they swiftly run to the other side, stopping at the gate that leads out towards the (now not so frozen) lake.
"The ice is melting far too quickly...i doubt we will make it across." Caspian says as they all look out at the lake, only a few slabs of ice remaining, bobbing in the water as they melt.
"How are we going to get over?" Lucy asks, slight concern within her voice.
They all look around, seeing if they can spot anything that they perhaps could use until Peter notices Caspian looking up and towards the distance.
"What is it Caspian?"
"Look!" He says, pointing up at a small black dot, flying in the sky.
Flying just like a bird in fact.
Caspian couldn't help but smile as he put his fingers to his mouth and whistled, his call making the hawk turn and see them.
Giving the hawk a nod, it turns again and flies into the distance to hopefully bring back some help from those still at Cair.
As they watched the hawk disappear into the distance all they had to do now, was wait.
...
......
Y/N, Peter, Lucy and Caspian had sat themselves on the ground near the lakeside, just watching and waiting for the hawk to return with fellow Narnians in tow.
As they were sat down together, Y/N had noticed Peter looking over his shoulder.
Turning her own head to see what he was looking at with such somber eyes also made her eyes then show a similar somber expression.
Peter and Y/N glanced at eachother before Peter went to get up, Caspian grabbing his arm gently.
"Peter...let Y/N go and see him...." he says quietly.
Peter glances at Caspian before looking back at Y/N, hesitant but understanding.
Y/N gives him a small smile before getting up and walking over to Edmund who was leaning against a rock, staring at the now ruins of Jadis's castle.
He didn't react when Y/N reached him.
Leaning up against the same rock as him, she too looked up at, what was now, ruins that lay before them.
Not a word was spoken for a good minute or so until Y/N decided to speak first.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah..."
.....
........
"She....spoke to me, before we left."
After the somewhat awkward silence hearing this grabs Y/N's attention, her head now turned to look at him.
"What did she say?"
Taking a deep breath he crossed his arms while still leaning against the large rock, eyes still glued to the ruins in which Jadis now lay, her screams echoing in his mind still.
"She tried to convince me to save her...that i was forgiven so why not her...a classic trick of hers really..."
Nodding in response, Y/N looks back at the ruins.
...
......
She couldn't help but sense there was something weighing him down, a thought or concern.
"Are you worried she will return again?"
"....not particularly...."
He then paused for a moment before continuing.
