Chapter 29: A Brief Goodbye

Back in Charn, both Y/N and Athelia watched as the beam of light faded from sight.

"Did, did it work?"

Athelia takes a moment to further look at where the beam of light once was before looking down at Y/N.

"Yes, it has worked perfectly."

A smile emerges from Y/N's lips as she hears this, knowing that both Lucy and Peter must have already gone back.

Her smile soon dropped though, as she remembered that now her quest was done, it was time for her to go.

She had to say goodbye.

Looking up at her mother, her eyes began to slowly fill with tears.

Athelia's heart broke as she quickly noticed this, knowing she couldn't comfort her child who was close to weeping before her.

"Don't worry dear one, it is not goodbye forever."

Sniffling a little, Y/N wipes her eyes.

"What do you mean?"

Athelia smiles as she leans forward a little and says "Aslan told me a little secret before i died those many years ago."

Now confused, Y/N tilts her head a little.

"What did he say?"

"He said that, we will be reunited, but will meet further still, when the time is right."

Wiping her eyes again, Y/N couldn't help but smile.

She felt better already knowing that Aslan himself had said this.

"In the meantime....do remember...my darling child, that i am always with you...."

She pauses, moving her ghostly hand to Y/N's chest.

"In here."

Looking up at her mother, her smile grows as she lets the tears fall, the both of them knowing that they were now happy tears, not ones filled with sorrow.

As they were having this soothing moment, a sudden small but strong rumble shook the floor, as a pool (just like those in The Wood Between The Worlds) formed before them.

That must be Y/N's way out.

They both look at the pool for a moment, before Athelia speaks.

"I suppose that is your exit."

Y/N nods, turning to leave but Athelia speaks her name, which makes her stop and turn.

"Before you go...don't underestimate my sister. She does not care for us anymore. If you must fight her...don't hold back. I know your friends won't, certainly not that boy, Edmund."

Y/N nods, going to turn again-

"Oh...and.."

She turns back towards her mother.

"Do remember....I'm with you, always and forever."

Y/N gives her mother a smile and a nod.

"Goodbye for now mother...I'll make you proud, i promise."

She then turns towards the pool, stepping into it.

"I'm already immensely proud, dear one..."
Athelia says quietly as she watches Y/N submerge herself into the pool, beginning to fall towards Narnia....

While Y/N and Athelia had been having their last moments together before their goodbyes, Lucy and Peter had found themselves in Narnia.
