Aayansh sat alone on the half circle couch on the terrace, his gaze drifting aimlessly into the distance. He was oblivious to his surroundings, a constant unrest brewing within him.

The sound of footsteps disrupt the stillness, and his head turns to the direction of stairs. Aviraj and Abhyudit emerge onto the terrace, and they spot him, striding toward him.

Aayansh rises from the couch in a reflexive movement, and envelopes Aviraj in a hug.

Aviraj was caught off guard for a moment, but he wraps his arms around him, lightly patting his back. "What happened?"

"Nothing," Aayansh mumbles, his voice was muffled against Aviraj's shoulder. He pulls away, his eyes avoiding his brother's.

"You seem off. And why are you here?" Abhyudit asks, keenly observing their interaction.

"I came here because it was quite. No one was around." Aayansh shrugs, sinking back onto the couch.

"Did you go to meet Jivika?" Abhyudit probes again casually, but his brows were furrowed, as if he was connecting some dots in his head.

"I did." Aayansh face falls, feeling a lump form in his throat.

His detached state was unmistakable, and Abhyudit tugs on Aviraj's sleeve, signaling him to come aside. The two huddle together as Aviraj moves near him on the backside of couch.

"I think," Abhyudit begins in a murmur, ensuring he was audible only to his elder brother, "he went to propose Jivika today, and it didn't go well. That is why he is upset."

"We can't say that for sure," Aviraj argues, sounding uncertain, but Abhyudit's confidence doesn't waver.

"Mai keh raha hu yeh reject hokar aaya hai. Iski shakal bata rahi hai ki usne iski jabardast beizzati bhi ki hai," he states, sticking to his theory.

(I'm telling you this is true. His face is screaming 'I've been rejected and insulted'.)

Their scrutinizing gazes dart to Aayansh, taking in his gloominess. With an interpretation taking shape in their minds, they exchange a sympathetic glance and head back to him.

Aviraj sits down beside Aayansh on the couch, placing a hand on his arm. "You don't have to take everything to heart, Ansh. Life is bigger than disappointment and rejection, and so should be your self-esteem."

"Bhaiya is right. We understand it's harsh for you to bear, but don't worry, we are here with you." Abhyudit takes the other side, patting his head to offer some support.

"You are, but you won't understand what's going on inside me." Aayansh slowly shakes his head in dismissal, still preoccupied and distracted.

"You are crushed, and you are feeling so low of yourself. I get it, and it's normal. Somewhere I had seen this coming, and honestly, I can't blame Jivika. She must be in shock, but I'm sure she will rethink later." Abhyudit attempts to console him again, opening his arms to embrace him.
