I stepped out of the cab and onto the office parking lot, my eyes scanning the area. And then, I saw him. Abhyudit. Standing by the entrance, looking every bit the confident, unapproachable person he was.

He glanced in my direction, and I felt a surge of nervousness as our eyes met. I continued on, brushing off the strange sensation. We walked into the office building together.

"Good morning, sir," I muttered, sounding formal, when appeared beside me.

He wished me back in the same tone. I stepped into the lift, with him following me closely. However, I didn't ask him about why he didn't went to his private elevator to avoid embarrassing myself like last time. I tried to maintain some distance between us in the closed space.

The air thick was with tension, but neither of us said anything, the silence between us palpable. I was staring blankly at the buttons, when I noticed the ring in his finger. He hadn't removed it.

Last night still felt like a dream, and I wasn't ready to face the reality of it all. We didn't get to talk yesterday after our silly argument. Aayansh and Jivika had pulled everyone for some solo and group photos after dinner, and then I had left his mansion by midnight.

Despite having a option and reason to take leave, I had decided against it. Here I was. I could feel his eyes on me, boring into my skin, yet I didn't dare glance at him.

I had told myself I can still control the situation. I tried to convince myself that he would eventually realize I'm not the one for him. That he deserves someone else—someone who isn't me.

But the truth was I wasn't the one holding the reins. He's the one who's been driving the chariot, and I'm just along the ride.

'Do you really want to pull off?' A meek voice within me had asked, and I chose not to dwell on it.

The doors finally opened, and we stepped out into the office corridor. He straightaway walked to his cabin, and I released a sigh, feeling a mix of relief and anticipation. Shaking off the feeling, I made my way to my desk, and dropped my bag onto the chair.

Heading to the canteen, I ordered his coffee and turned around, almost colliding with a girl walking in the opposite direction. I stopped just in time, avoiding the collision.

"Are you blind to not see where you are going?" she snapped rudely, glaring at me.

"My bad, I didn't use my rearview eyes, assuming the person behind me wasn't sleepwalking." The retort slipped out of my mouth, and her face turned red with rage.

But before she could respond, another girl intervened. "Anika, don't create a scene. Leave it." She grabbed Anika's arm and led her away.

I closed my eyes, calming my nerves. Picking up the coffee from the counter, I headed back towards the lift. But as I walked, I saw Anika and her friend huddled in corner, talking in hushed tone.
