Ahad entered his office after a long three hour meeting. There were some malfunctions in one of the products manufacture and it took all his time to get the stuff right and rid of the problem. He stopped by his chair and threw his coat on the sofa. Opening his cuffs, he rolled the sleeves to his elbows and massaged his temples. The work was just never ending and the more he wished to get it done with, the more tangled he got. Sighing, he was about to call for a coffee when his phone rang. Seeing his mother's name flash across the screen, he put the device on his ear
"Yes, Mama?"
At the other end, Rubina's voice was all worried and troubled
"Beta, has Sahar reached you? I've been calling her since an hour and she's not picking up."
His eyebrows scrunched together and he confusedly asked his mother
"Was she coming here?"
"Yeah, she left with Zaviyar hours ago."
He kept his mother on hold and dialed the reception desk to ask if she was here. His worry intensified when the receptionist answered no. Keeping the device back on his ear, he told his mother
"She never came here. She must be in traffic or something."
That was the most logical answer. Traffic could be hell, honestly.
"I called Zaviyar too. He isn't attending either."
"They must be fine. Don't worry."
Although, he was calming her down, he felt his insides churn with a dropping feeling.
"I'll call her and tell you, okay?"
Rubina only hummed before cutting the call. He quickly dialed his wife's number and waited for her to pick up, but he only heard the caller. He dialed his brother next, but his efforts soon stopped when the door to his office barged open and strolled in a bloodied Zaviyar. Red liquid was oozing out of the cloth he had wrapped around the back of his head.
"What's wrong with you?"
He walked toward him, but Zaviyar was least bothered by his wound.
"Bhai, it's Sahar."
Upon the mention of his wife's name and the state of his brother, dread settled in his bones and he uttered
"What the hell happened?"
Zaviyar swayed a bit as his blood was dripping all around the plush carpet.
"We were being followed by a black car. It hit us and she hit her head. Before I could react, I was..I was attacked."
Ahad's eyes darkened and he gritted the words out
"Where is my wife?"
Genuine worry coated Zaviyar's face and he muttered
"Someone took her. When I woke up, she was nowhere to be found."
"Fuck!"
It was the first time Zaviyar had heard him curse inside the office. Ahad rarely cursed, so seeing him do now really showed how deeply grave the situation was.
"Why didn't you call me?"
Zaviyar shook his head and painfully bit out
"It all happened in a blur."
Ahad paced the office while trying to dial his wife's number again. Suddenly, Zaviyar's eyes widened and he blurted
"Bhai, we have to get her back soon."
