The Letters

Fuegoleon entered the vacant room after four days of looking. He clenched his fists as he tried to control his mana and anger. He sat down on her bed and rubbed his head,

"I'm sorry I was unable to find you, Mynx...but I will never give up on you. I will not stop until I find you, sister,"

He glanced around and frowned in confusion when he felt his instincts tug at him toward a drawer,

"What?"

He opened it and saw a package and an envelope, which had his name on it in Mynx's handwriting. He immediately grabbed it and opened it to find another envelope and took out the letter:

Dear Flame Boy,

If you are reading this, something must have happened to me. For the past few weeks, I have had a very bad weird feeling that something was going to happen. You just told me that the Diamond Kingdom is attacking so I'm kinda speed writing this letter. I hope you can forgive me if you are reading this without me. I discovered a new spell...I'm not sure how it will pan out because I have never tried it before, but it just gives off ultimatum vibes. Fuegoleon, I want you to know that you are the best twin brother I could ever ask for. The best Captain I could ever work under, don't tell anyone I said that they might get jealous. I know we just got promoted, me just a week ago...but I don't think I can remain your Vice Captain...especially if you are reading this...Don't worry about me, Flame Boy, I can take care of myself. Give the other Envelope to Mereoleona will you? I bet she immediately ran off as soon as something happened to me...but when you next see her please give it to her...as for the box, it's for Leo. I was keeping it to give to him when he gets his Grimoire and joined the Crimson Lions...Unfortunately, I won't ever be able to see how far he comes. This is a farewell letter, if you couldn't tell...All of my possessions you can keep, split it between the three of you. Don't forget that I will always love you all...with my entire soul...I'm sorry Fuegoleon...I'm sorry I won't be able to bully you when you meet someone you love, but just know that she is going to be the luckiest person in the universe.

Fuegoleon felt his heart stop as he read the letter and rubbed his eyes as he felt something fall from them,

"Oh, Mynx,"

Yami sighed as he sat down on his bed with his head down in his hands,

"I will never give up on you...just like you didn't with me,"

Then he heard a tap on his window and he looked over to see an anti-bird tapping their beak on it. Yami walked over to it and opened his window and the bird flew in and sat on his pillow,

"Hey, aren't you Zero? Mynx's bird?"

The bird blinked at him and handed him a letter in her beak before flying away. Yami tilted his head and saw the letter was addressed to him. He opened it after recognizing Mynx's handwriting.

Dearest darkness,

Hello to my favorite foreigner. If you are reading this...something happened to me. I told Nero to give you this letter if I disappeared or died. Hopefully I just disappeared but I also wanted to prove to you guys that Nero is actually a brilliant bird so HAH! In your face you dickhead. I am sorry for leaving whichever way I did. I won't be able to continue our monthly outings anymore. But I left a gift to you in my honor. I want you to continue on our tradition without me. Go out once a month to our favorite bar and the waiter will know. Free drinks on me always. With Will obviously. I know you have this competition with him but keep our tradition when it was just the three of us..now it's just the two of you. Don't let the darkness win Yami. No matter what, keep fighting for what you believe in and for those you believe in too. I know you will be a great captain one day. And you will pave the way for so many others. Be the bull you always have been and keep running straight into danger but be careful. I won't be there to save your ass anymore.

Yami sighed as he put the letter on the table,

"You selfless idiot."

William was outside on the balcony when something landed on his shoulder. He turned to see the beady eyes of Nero staring at him,

"Hello, Nero, what are you doing here?"

Nero placed the letter down on his hand and flew away. William frowned in confusion but opened the letter addressed to him.

Dear Goldie,

This is our proof that Nero is brilliant! I'm sorry about everything Will. I won't be there to see you become Captain. Or maybe I will! I will try my best to see you and Yami become the best Captains ever! Don't tell Fuegoleon that please! If you are in fact reading this...it is because I went missing or was killed. Hopefully I died in a fun dramatic way! I know we haven't known each other for long, but you are a close friend of mine and you must keep our monthly bar meetings alive! I know it's hard to be stuck with Yami, but it's free! It's all on me so don't worry about paying. I set up a payment system for both of you so please keep the tradition alive for me. Don't give up hope Will, I will watch the rising dawn from wherever I am just like we used to do.

For the first time in a long time, William felt a tear in his eye as he stared at the letter,

"The Dawn will never be the same...we will find you my friend,"

Quill Zenko opened the door to his bar and tilted his head in confusion when he saw a letter and a sack next to it. He grabbed the letter and opened it.

Dear Mr. Zenko,

It's your favorite client, Mynx! If you are receiving this letter, I was reported MIA or KIA by the Wizard King. Don't worry about me, I am more worried about my two friends, William and Yami. I told them to keep our tradition going of coming over once a month. I left you a big bag of coin to pay for them. I hope it's ok with you that I did this. I just didn't want them to drown themselves in work, we both know William would, and I didn't want Yami to gamble everything away or get himself into big trouble when I can't get him out of it. I want you to split the coin, half for William the other half for Yami....or a bit more than half for Yami since he drinks way more than William. I hope you know that you have been a very great owner and a great friend. I do hope they come, I told them that drinks would be on me :). Take care of yourself and your family...apologies for the loss of a third of your monthly income until I come back. Also! If you see my twin brother, take some funds from Yami and give him drinks on the house too! If you ever see Leopold coming in, give him something nonalcoholic and say it is alcoholic please.

He grabbed the bag and opened it to see a lot of coins. He gently placed it into a safe and smiled at it,
