Mynx stirred awake, the faint hum of voices swirling around her as she blinked slowly, her vision adjusting to the warm glow of the room. She felt groggy, her body heavy with fatigue.
"Are you sure she's okay? She looks very pale,"
"Leo, we already drilled Owen with questions, he said she needs a lot of rest,"
"Why can't we take her back home?"
"Because, he wants to keep her for observation,"
Mynx managed to open her eyes fully, her gaze landing on the two sitting on the floor beside her bed. Balto stood watch nearby, his glowing eyes focused intently on her. She mustered a small smile.
"Hey,"
They immediately jumped up and knelt down next to her,
"Mynx!"
Mynx laughed and smiled at the two,
"So, I take it you heard the good news?"
Leopold nodded enthusiastically, his grin nearly splitting his face,
"Yeah! We can't wait to get you back home!"
Xander nodded,
"Yeah! We still have your office and room available!"
Mynx raised a brow, her lips twitching in amusement,
"I thought I told you guys to give that to Randall?"
Leopold shrugged,
"He didn't want it,"
Balto chuckled,
"Give her some space, boys,"
Leopold groaned,
"Balto,"
Balto smirked and placed his paw gently on Mynx's leg,
"How are you feeling?"
Mynx groaned softly as she attempted to sit up, her body protesting the movement,
"Like I got hit by a broom."
Xander smirked and helped her lean against the wall for support,
"Yeah, well. According to Owen, you took a lot of damage,"
Leopold frowned and nodded,
"Yeah, how did you break every bone in your wrist?!"
Mynx winced and glanced at her wrist,
"Woah, that must be a record, huh? Where is Fuego?"
Leopold sighed,
"Mynx-"
"Leo,"
Xander sighed,
"He's in a meeting with the other captains and the wizard king,"
Mynx nodded,
"Alright, so I'm guessing he doesn't know I'm reinstated?"
The two shook their heads and Mynx glanced around,
"Where is Aphi?"
Leopold gestured vaguely,
"He went to bring some food for us,"
Balto nodded,
"The only reason he left was because he wanted to give these two some time with you alone,"
Mynx smiled softly and ruffled their hairs in sync,
"Go get Owen for me, please,"
They bolted upright like eager puppies,
