As soon as the exam ended, Xander sprinted over to where he saw the red capes gathering. Fuegoleon gave him a once-over and sighed.
"Your name is Xander, yes?"
Xander saluted quickly.
"Yes, sir! Xander Caleo, at your service."
Fuegoleon nodded, his gaze serious.
"My sister is in charge of you. She will be your supervisor. You'll be banished from this squad if any harm comes to her. Understood?"
Xander felt his face drain of color and nodded rapidly.
"Y-Yes, sir!"
"HEYYYYY!"
Both turned to see Mynx jogging over, a bright smile on her face.
"Welcome to the team, Xander! Hope my brother wasn't giving you a hard time!"
Xander glanced nervously at Fuegoleon, who gave him a steely look, prompting him to shake his head quickly.
"Nope, not at all!"
Mynx beamed.
"Good! Now, come with me!"
She grabbed Xander's hand to lead him away, but Fuegoleon stopped her.
"Where are you going?"
Mynx flashed him a mischievous grin.
"We're off to visit Julius! I wanted to ask Marx something anyway, and Yami and Will are joining us too. Plus, I want Xander to show Julius his magic!"
Fuegoleon deadpanned but nodded.
"Fine. Be back by sundown."
Mynx winked.
"Of course!"
She pulled Xander along as he gapped at her,
"Uh, did you say Julius? As in the Wizard King Julius?"
Mynx nodded casually.
"Yep! Julius and I became friends after a joint mission I had with Yami."
"Yami?"
"Yep! Yami's the Vice Captain of the Gray Deers with Will—well, you'd call him William until he likes you."
"But—"
"Shh, just go with the flow! Fuego said you're my responsibility, so I have to teach you the important stuff."
Xander tilted his head.
"Like what?"
Mynx smirked.
"When in doubt, go with the flow!"
"I'm...not sure that sounds right."
"Too bad!"
They arrived at the castle, where Mynx spotted Nozel.
"Hey! Nozel!"
Nozel sighed, glancing over.
"Mynx."
She sidled up beside him.
"Did you already talk to your new squad? I feel like I just saw you!"
Nozel briefly looked at Xander before answering.
"I informed them of my expectations. Why do you have your new recruit with you?"
Mynx smiled, nudging Xander.
