Mynx was in the branches of a tree overlooking a hill right outside the Capital. She was leaning against the trunk and smiling softly as she watched the sun slowly rise in the distance. She quickly looked down when she heard leaves rustling and spotted a young teenager wearing a mask. She tilted her head as she noticed him sitting down, watching the sun. She smiled softly,

"It's beautiful, is it not?"

The boy immediately stood up and looked around,

"Who is there?"

Mynx laughed,

"Up here,"

He looked up and spotted her,

"What are you doing in the tree?"

Mynx smiled at him and raised her hand,

"Come on up and see,"

She watched his eyes widen in surprise when she summoned condensed cosmic particles for him to step on so he could reach the branch,

"Wow,"

Mynx chuckled,

"Well? Hurry up,"

He softly stepped on each platform and was quick to sit down on the branch next to her,

"Who are you?"

"Ah, yes, my name is Mynx. You are William, right?"

"How did you know?"

Mynx smiled as she looked back at the sun,

"Because Julius was very excited about you joining him on his squad. He told me about your tree magic as soon as he knew you were joining the Magic Knights."

William glanced over her uniform,

"You are not in my squad, though. Which one are you on?"

Mynx chuckled and moved her hair to the side to show the crimson lion logo on her cloak along with her ring,

"The Crimson Lions with my family,"

"Your family?"

Mynx smirked at him,

"Hey, I won't give you my background if you don't give me yours, Goldie,"

William chuckled,

"Why did you call me Goldie?"

Mynx shrugged,

"Your mask. I know it wasn't really your choice, but Julius does have an interesting sense of style...I like it. It matches your spirit,"

"My spirit?"

Mynx nodded and raised her hand in front of him as cosmic particles enveloped her hand to form a sphere,

"I didn't know what magic I had until I got my Grimoire. What you are looking at, William is the only thing I could do before receiving it. It took me a long time to figure out what this sphere is. Can you tell me?"

William narrowed his eyes as he focused on the glowing blue orb,

"It's a constellation...the Artemis constellation,"

Mynx nodded as she closed her fist. The orb disappeared,

"Correct. But my dumbass didn't realize it, but it makes me feel better that no one else knew either. I was born in Hage Village. Or at least, that's what I believe. I was abandoned as a baby in front of a church. The Pastor took me in, and when I was still young, I met Mereoleona Vermillion. She introduced me to her family, and they took me in. I moved into their castle, and they became my family. I will ask you not to tell anyone else my story, not a lot of people are nice about a commoner being taken in by Royalty. I have heard it all, so not to worry."

William looked down,

"You promise to-"

Mynx jumped over to his branch and sat down in front of him,

"I promise to never judge you, William,"

William looked into her eyes; purple clashed with sky blue. He nodded,

"I was born as an illegitimate child to a noble...what made it worse was..."

He slowly lifted his mask, and Mynx felt her heart break at his scar,

"I was born scarred. They thought I was cursed. I grew up in the forsaken realm until my father's heir died, and I was brought into the Noble Realm again when I was eight. My foster mom has hated me ever since she met me...I started having these strange dreams and one time I tried telling her but she ignored me and screamed at me...But then I met Sir Julius when I was thirteen...he believed in me after he saw my magic and offered me a spot in the Magic Knights when I got my Grimoire...I never thought I could ever become somebody...but now I am. I want to help and prove to everyone Sir Julius was not wrong about me,"

Mynx smiled softly and brought her hand to his head as a pat,

"I believe in you, William. If you ever need it, call upon me,"

William smiled softly at her,

"You mean it?"

Mynx winked at him,

"Of course I do. I will say this. Avoid Yami for a few days, you just started yes?"

William gulped and nodded,

"Yes...why?"

Mynx laughed,

"Don't worry about it. Yami is a big softy when you get to know him...but he likes pranking the newbies,"

William nodded and put his mask back on,

"Thank you, Mynx,"

Mynx smiled and nodded,

"You are very welcome, Will. If you wish, I will be here every morning unless I have a mission, come join me,"

William nodded,

"I will,"

The two climbed down, and William saluted at her,

"Thank you for-"

"Don't salute at me,"

William frowned in confusion,

"Eh?"

Mynx chuckled and scratched the back of her neck,

"Ah, I'm still young, I don't have any big rank yet, you don't need to salute at me, kid,"

"What if I want to?"

Mynx chuckled and patted his shoulder,

"Trust me, Will, that's going to change with time,"

William shook his head,

"No, it won't,"

Mynx chuckled,

"Come by Zenko's bar later-"

"I'm only fifteen-"

"And I'm only twenty, calm down we aren't drinking. Mr. Zenko has very good fruity drinks for the underaged mages. I'm bringing Yami too so you can safely meet him then,"

"William nodded,

"Alright,"

Mynx winked at him,

"Just don't tell him. We usually meet once a month to catch up, just the two of us, but we can do the three of us,"

William smiled as he watched her walk away,

"Sounds fun,"
