The soft morning light filtered through the windows gently coaxing Vrindha and Krishna from their peaceful slumber. As they stirred awake, the memories of their cozy night together filled them with warmth. Stretching out on the mat, they exchanged sleepy smiles. Krishna kissed her forehead before heading to the bathroom to freshen up. Vrindha smiled to herself as she is overwhelmed by his presence. She lazily got up and folded the sheets and blankets. She tied her hair into a messy bun and went to take a bath.

After a quick shower and getting dressed, they moved through the apartment, feeling a sense of satisfaction in their new home. Krishna, always the organized one, had already set out a few groceries and daily essentials he had picked up earlier. The smell of fresh fruit and spices are lingering in the air.

Just as they were finishing up, there was a knock at the door.

Krishna : I think our families are here !

Krishna said with excitement bubbling in his voice. He opened the door to find his mother, Lakshmi, beaming at them, flanked by Vrindha's family.

Lakshmi : Good morning !

She exclaimed by stepping inside and immediately taking in the surroundings. Behind her, Parvathi, Shankar, and the rest of the family followed, each one offered warm greetings.

After the initial round of hugs and laughter, Krishna turned to his mother with a curious expression.

Krishna : Amma, has Nanna's anger subsided at all ?

he asked with a hint of concern in his voice.

Lakshmi chuckled by shaking her head.

Lakshmi : Well, he told me to leave the house and stay with my beloved son Krishna.

she replied with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

Lakshmi : I spat back that he bought that house with my dowry ?

Krishna couldn't help but laugh, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. It was good to know his mother still had her spirit intact despite the tension with his father.

After some light-hearted banter, they all gathered in the living room for a small puja, marking the beginning of their new life together. Krishna and Vrindha led the rituals, offering prayers and lighting incense, filling the apartment with a serene atmosphere. It felt right to start their journey with blessings from their loved ones.

Once the puja was complete, they moved into the kitchen to prepare a simple meal. With the new stove glowing, they boiled milk and made a creamy rice pudding, sweetened just enough to be comforting. The aroma wafted through the air, drawing the family closer as they set the table.

After serving everyone, they sat down together, sharing stories and laughter over their meal. It felt like a beautiful celebration of new beginnings and togetherness. As the sun began to set, the atmosphere in the apartment was filled with warmth and joy.

By evening, as the last bites were taken and the dishes cleared away, Vrindha and Krishna's family began to gather their things to leave. There were hugs, promises to visit soon, and expressions of love exchanged as they said their goodbyes.

Shankar : Take care of each other !

Shankar reminded them and his eyes are  twinkling with fatherly affection not just for vrindha but also for krishna.

Once the door closed behind their families, Vrindha turned to Krishna and her heart is feeling full.

Vrindha : That was nice.

she said with her voice soft.

Krishna : Yeah, it was.

he agreed.

Krishna : Now, let's get going and pick up some things we need for the house.

As they headed out, the evening air was cool and refreshing. Their first stop was a nearby furniture store where they browsed through mattresses for all the beds in their home. After some deliberation, they selected comfortable options that would make their new space feel more inviting.

Next, they visited an another store to buy kitchen essentials like pots, pans, a blender, and a few gadgets that would make cooking easier. They also picked up other urgent items like lights and small appliances that would help them settle in.

By the time they returned home, the night was deepening, and the streets were quieter. They unloaded their purchases, excitement bubbling as they arranged the new mattresses and set up the electronics. It felt rewarding to see their apartment gradually transform into a cozy, functional home.

After a simple dinner of leftovers from the afternoon, they sank into their newly arranged living space, feeling the fatigue of the day settle in. Wrapping their arms around each other, they let out satisfied sighs, ready to drift into a peaceful sleep.

With the sounds of the city outside and the warmth of their new life enveloping them, they fell asleep, dreaming of all the adventures that lay ahead.
