After finishing breakfast, Krishna cleared the table and began washing the dishes, the sound of water splashing filled the kitchen. Vrindha took the opportunity to make a list of necessary groceries, checking each container in the pantry to ensure they had everything they needed.
As she was jotting down items, the sudden sound of the doorbell interrupted their routine.
Vrindha : I'll get it !
Vrindha called by heading towards the door with Krishna trailing behind her, curious.
When she opened the door, she was greeted by a familiar face. It was Meera, standing there with a forlorn expression. Krishna, standing just behind Vrindha, felt his stomach drop. "What's she doing here ?" he thought, surprise and unease is washing over him.
Krishna : Meera ?
Krishna asked by stepping forward and his voice is tinged with shock.
Krishna : What are you doing here ? How did you get my address ?
Meera looked up, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. She showed his new visiting card.
Meera : I... I came to talk.
she said and her voice is shaky.
Meera : My boyfriend cheated on me. I didn't know where else to go.
.........
The tension in the room thickened, and Krishna exchanged a glance with Vrindha, who stood silently, trying to gauge the situation. Memories of how his father had wanted him to marry Meera flashed through his mind, but he shook them away, focusing on the present.
Vrindha : Are you okay ?
Vrindha asked gently and her instinct to comfort meera is kicking in despite the unexpected nature of the visit.
Meera nodded slowly, but the tremor in her voice suggested otherwise.
Meera : I just... I thought maybe you two could help me figure things out.
Krishna felt a mix of emotions , concern for Meera but also a protective instinct for Vrindha.
Krishna : Um, come in.
He said by stepping aside to let her enter into the living room.
Krishna : We can talk.
As Meera walked into their home, Vrindha's heart raced. She could sense the tension, but she remained calm, determined to be supportive.
Vrindha : Would you like to have some tea ?
she offered by trying to ease the atmosphere.
Meera : Yeah, that would be nice.
Meera replied by glancing around the cozy kitchen as if trying to find some comfort in the familiar setting.
Krishna resumed washing the dishes, but his mind was elsewhere. He couldn't help but wonder how this unexpected visit would change the dynamics between them. Would it complicate the strained relations or could they help Meera find a way to move on ?
Krishna paced the kitchen, uncertainty gnawing at him as he tried to think of how to support both Vrindha and Meera. That's when an idea struck him and he decided to call his lifeline, his younger sister, Krithi. He quickly dialed her number, hoping she could provide some much-needed perspective.
Krithi : Hey Anna , What's up ?
Krithi answered and her cheerful voice is cutting through his worry.
Krishna : Krithi, I need your help.
Krishna said and his tone is serious.
Krishna : Meera just showed up at our place. She's going through a tough time after her boyfriend cheated on her.
Krithi paused for a moment.
Krithi : Oh no, that's awful ! What happened ?
Krishna explained the situation, and after a brief conversation, he felt a bit lighter, knowing he had his sister's support.
Meanwhile, in the living room, Vrindha had served tea to Meera, who sat quietly on the couch, the weight of her heartbreak is evident in her demeanor. As they settled down, Krishna and Vrindha exchanged a reassuring glance, encouraging her to open up.
Meera took a deep breath, her voiceis barely above a whisper.
Meera : After you got married to vrindha , your father came to apologize to my family
she began and her eyes are glistening with unshed tears.
Meera : They were disappointed at first, but it got resolved after some taunting. They said he raised our expectations.
Krishna felt a pang of hurt but remained silent and allowed her to continue.
Meera : About a week ago, I decided to tell my family about my boyfriend.
Meera said and her voice is shaking slightly.
Meera : I thought it was time to introduce him to them. So, I went to his place, ready to call him home.
At that moment, Krishna's heart sank, sensing the impending heartbreak in her words.
Meera : When I got there, I found him with another woman.
Meera said and her voice is breaking.
Meera : She was his wife. He closed the door on my face and met me 2 days later. He laughed at me, taunting me, saying I was stupid to think he'd marry a poor girl like me.
The atmosphere grew heavy with emotion as Meera's story unfolded. Krishna's heart ached for her, and he exchanged a worried glance with Vrindha. He could see the compassion in her eyes, reflecting his own feelings.
Vrindha : Meera, I'm so sorry you had to go through that.
Vrindha said softly by reaching out to hold Meera's hand.
Vrindha : You deserve so much better. Be happy that you got to see his true face before marrying him.
Krishna nodded in agreement.
Krishna : We're here for you. You can talk to us about anything.
Meera looked up, a mixture of vulnerability and gratitude in her eyes.
Meera : Thank you both. I really needed to talk to someone.
As the three of them sat together, the conversation began to flow, offering a sense of comfort amid the turmoil.
...........
How's the chapter ?
