Krishna sat in the common room and he is surrounded by the seasoned advocates he respected deeply. They were engrossed in a discussion about the recent domestic abuse case krishna was handling and  the gravity of it is weighing heavily on his mind. His colleagues offered insights on strategy, debating the best way to present the evidence and highlight the victim's plight. Just as he was about to contribute a thought on elder's suggestions , his phone buzzed by cutting through the tension in the air.

Excusing himself with a nod, Krishna stepped out into the hallway. He glanced at the screen. It was Dr. Sharma. Taking a deep breath, he answered the call, his heart racing slightly.

Dr.Sharma : Krishna, I have a good news !

Dr. Sharma's voice came through. Her voice is calm and reassuring.

Dr.Sharma : The tests came back positive, and everything looks good. However, it's important that you take care of Vrindha well during this time.

A wave of relief washed over him.

Krishna : Thank you, Doctor. I'll make sure to look after her.

He paused and his mind is racing to share the news.

After a brief exchange, he hung up, feeling buoyed by the news. He returned to the conference room, his thoughts are now half-focused on Vrindha and their future, the other half still tangled in legal strategy.

At lunchtime, Krishna dialed Vrindha's number, his heart light.

Krishna : Hey, I just got a call from Dr. Sharma. The reports came back good !

Her laughter was like music to his ears.

Vrindha : That's wonderful, Krishna! I'm so glad to hear that.

As they chatted about plans for the evening, Krishna felt a warmth settle over him. He was grateful for the support they had in each other.

After lunch, he returned to the conference room to meet with a senior advocate, Mr. Rao, who was known for his sharp insights. They discussed the nuances of the domestic abuse case, focusing on the key points that needed highlighting.

Mr.Rao : Why aren't you consulting your father for this case ?

Mr. Rao asked suddenly by leaning back in his chair.

Mr.Rao : He's one of the most respected lawyers in the field. He is far more popular and experienced than me and any other person in this court.

Krishna felt a tightening in his chest. He admired his father's achievements but felt the weight of their strained relationship.

Krishna : I appreciate your suggestion, Mr. Rao, but I think I can navigate this case on my own.

He smiled politely but expertly redirecting the conversation.

Krishna : Let's focus on the evidence and the emotional aspects we need to bring forward.

The topic shifted, but the brief mention of his father lingered in Krishna's mind, a reminder of the complexities of family and expectation. As he prepared for the next phase of the case, he couldn't shake the feeling that, like the law, personal relationships often demanded careful navigation . For a balance of respect, understanding, and, sometimes, distance.

Next day the courtroom was tense as the final verdict approached. 5 months after roopa got divorced , her domestic violence case is being brought up for final judgment. The judge, having examined all evidence presented over the past several months, prepared to announce the decision that would change lives forever. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation, and whispers filled the air as the judge entered the room.

On one side sat Krishna who is representing Roopa as usual determined to seek justice for her and their children. Opposite him was the opponent's lawyer, a seasoned professional known for his aggressive tactics.

As the proceedings began, heated arguments erupted. Krishna stayed silent initially just for trying to escalate the opponent's adrenaline. Krishna stood up and his voice is unwavering.

Krishna : Your Honor, we have presented undeniable evidence of domestic violence under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code, which addresses cruelty by a husband or his relatives towards a wife. Roopa suffered not only emotional trauma but physical abuse, and it's imperative that justice is served.

The opponent's lawyer shot back,

Opponent lawyer : Your Honor, the allegations are exaggerated ! We have witnesses who can attest to the character of my client. The defense rests on the principle of reasonable doubt, and it's clear that Roopa has fabricated these claims.

Krishna pressed on,

Krishna : Furthermore, under Section 304B of the IPC, we cannot ignore the circumstances leading to Roopa's husband's behaviour, which endangered her life. This is not just about one incident.  it's a pattern of abuse that must be addressed. The law is clear on these matters.

The tension escalated as the two lawyers continued to clash. The judge intervened, reminding both parties to focus on the evidence rather than personal attacks. After lengthy deliberations, the judge finally delivered the verdict.

Judge : Having considered all evidence and arguments, this court finds the accused guilty of domestic violence and cruelty under Sections 498A and 304B of the IPC. Therefore, I hereby sentence Roopa's husband to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.

A hush fell over the courtroom. Roopa, sitting in the front row, felt a wave of relief mixed with lingering sadness. Justice had been served, but the scars of the past would take much longer to heal. As the gavel struck, she knew this was just the beginning of rebuilding her life.

Roopa : Thank you sir !

Krishna : I didn't want i am supposed to do. Stay happy ma !

Roopa nodded,

Roopa : Also thank Vrindha ma'am from my side sir !

Krishna nodded.

...............
