Krishna and Vrindha stepped out of the temple as newly married couple. The vibrant energy of their wedding is still alive around them. The air was thick with the scent of marigolds and sandalwood, remnants of the rituals that had just taken place. As they walked down the steps, the sunlight poured over them, creating a halo effect that felt almost surreal amidst the tension waiting just outside.
Standing at the temple's entrance was Govind with his arms crossed tightly over his chest and a scowl etched on his face. The cheerful chatter of family fell silent as his presence loomed large, casting a shadow over their celebration. Krishna felt a knot tighten in his stomach. This was the confrontation he had both anticipated and dreaded.
Govind : Krishna !
Govind's voice thundered by slicing through the air with palpable disappointment.
Govind : What have you done ? I just thought that you're threatening me.
Before Krishna could gather his thoughts, Shankar stepped forward attempting to diffuse the situation.
Shankar : Govind, let's talk about this. It's a new beginning for both families...
Govind interrupted him sharply and his gaze is unwavering.
Govind : There's nothing to discuss.
Krishna : Please nanna ! I've done the best thing that i could do in this situation. I'll talk to them on behalf of you. Please nanna !
Govind : Shut up ! From this day I don't have any son. A son is someone who tries make his father proud but not someone who makes their father bend their head with shame.
He said and his tone is brooking no argument. Without another word, he turned and strode away, leaving an uneasy silence in his wake.
Vrindha glanced up at Krishna with worry flickering in her eyes. He placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, his thumb brushing against her skin in a comforting gesture.
Krishna : It'll be okay.
He murmured by trying to quell the uncertainty that threatened to engulf them both.
Lakshmi who is standing nearby took a deep breath and her expression is a blend of concern and resolve.
Lakshmi : I know how to handle your father.
she said quietly but firmly and her eyes are glinting with determination.
Lakshmi : I'll talk to him. For now, focus on your happiness.
She shot Krishna a knowing glance and a silent promise that she would advocate for their love.
The atmosphere lightened slightly as Vrindha's family stepped forward, eager to embrace this new chapter. Shankar spoke,
Shankar : Why don't you both stay with us for a while ? It would make this transition easier.
Krishna shook his head gently with a small smile breaking through despite the earlier tension.
Krishna : No, it'll only complicate things. We need our own space to start this journey together. We got overwhelmingly less time to understand each other better as a couple.
He looked at Vrindha, who nodded in agreement and her eyes are filled with excitement.
Sensing the need for levity, Krithi chimed in,
Krithi : What he means is, they need privacy !
Laughter erupted by momentarily breaking the heaviness of the moment, and even Vrindha couldn't help but smile at the light-hearted teasing. The warmth of familial love enveloped them, reminding them they had a supportive network around them. They spent some time with grandma who is extremely happy.
After a few more embraces and well-wishes, Krishna took Vrindha's hand and their fingers entwined as they made their way to their new beginnings in new house. The drive felt surreal and each passing moment is filled with a mixture of excitement and nervous anticipation.
Arriving at the gated community. A group of modern buildings surrounded by lush greenery. Krishna parked the car and they stepped out into the evening air. The sun hung low in the sky by casting a golden glow over everything and wrapping them in a warm embrace.
Krishna : Welcome home !
Krishna said and his voice is warm and inviting as they approached the main entrance. They walked together toward the building, the soft crunch of gravel underfoot is echoing their steps. The anticipation swelled within Krishna, mingling with a flicker of anxiety.
Krishna took out vrindha's luggage after parking their car in the parking lot. They both carried the bags together.
As they reached the main gate, the world around them seemed to fade, leaving just the two of them standing at the threshold of their new life. With a deep breath, Krishna turned to Vrindha, his eyes reflecting the hope and excitement swirling in his heart.
Krishna : Are you ready for this ?
Vrindha looked back at him and her eyes are sparkling with determination and joy.
Vrindha : Absolutely !
With a shared smile, they stepped through the gate by crossing into the space that would soon be filled with their dreams, laughter, and love.
Vrindha : You can't stand me for an hour. How you are going to bear me for a life time ?
Krishna : I love those little bickerings . I want them till we become old.
Vrindha : You are doing magic with words. What can i expect from a lawyer ?
Krishna chuckled.
Krishna : Then what can i expect from a UPSC topper ? Smart brain you know !
Vrindha : Let's see ! What you are going to do and i am going to do !
Krishna : You remembered the agreement right ?
Vrindha : yes ! Of course I remember it.
Krishna : If any of us violates it.....
Vrindha : What happens ?
Krishna : There is a compensation.
Vrindha : what's that ?
Krishna : By leaving everything behind we should have a 24 hours date. Mobiles should be switched off and it should be just us having quality time together. We should sort out everything and we should never fight over the same thing again.
Vrindha : That's not so easy ! It won't work for me. The whole district will be chaotic if my mobile goes off.
Krishna : Then you shouldn't violate anything.
Vrindha : Ok sir ! Take me home first.
