Chapter 46

Ely POV

"Sasuke, is everything OK?" Since I didn't get an answer, I looked in his direction and noticed that his gaze was directed towards the sky. "Sasuke?" "Mh..?" His gaze met mine. "Is everything OK?" "I just have too much on my mind right now." "You know that you can talk to me about anything?" "I know that and I'm very grateful for that. This makes my mission a lot easier. Orochimaru still has something to do with Akatsuki. Neither Itachi nor I have been able to find out what he has to do with the organization. It drives me crazy that I can't find out." "You can only achieve as much as you can. He'll make a mistake and then you'll find out." He just nodded and lay down. His head was on my lap. I couldn't resist and ran my fingers through his hair. It wasn't long before he fell asleep too. Apparently, he hadn't had much sleep lately. After he woke up again, we said goodbye and I set off for home. A bad feeling overcame me, and I looked up at the sky.

The next morning, I was informed that Kakashi, Sakura and Naruto had left for Suna with Temari. Gaara was kidnapped by Akatsuki. I quickly wrote a letter to Sasuke so he would know about it. I set off for the training grounds because I actually wanted to train today. Halfway there, Tsunade came towards me. "Ely. Please wait." I turned to her and looked at her expectantly. "I'm sorry that I acted like that. But you are the only family I have left, and I didn't want to risk that." Without saying a word, I walked up to her and hugged her. "It's okay. I overreacted too." I took a few steps back and looked at her with a questioning look. "That's not the only reason you came here, is it?" "Nothing can be hidden from you. As you have noticed, I have already sent Kakashi with a team and will most likely send a second team." There was more. "But that's not all, is it Tsunade?"

"I'm afraid that Naruto will lose control and Kakashi won't be able to react in time. Then I don't want to know what will happen. So, Ely, your mission is to leave for Suna in two days and support Team Kakashi. I'm counting on you." "Thank you. I'll prepare everything and then leave in two days." "Thank you, Ely. See you then." So, no training for now. I went home to see what I needed for the mission. When I saw what I was missing, I went shopping and then I got all the things I needed ready.

The next two days flew by. I trained a lot and prepared for my mission. I had already received information about the members of Akatsuki from Sasuke and Itachi and I knew the area around Suna pretty well. Outside of Konoha, I stopped briefly and summoned Taka and Shadow. "Ah, it's been a long time since you called us." "Sorry Taka." "How can we help you?" "Taka, could you keep an eye out from above in a smaller version and you, Shadow, stay here with me?" They both nodded and we set off.

We ran as fast as we could. "Taka, do you see anything?" "There must have been a fight up ahead." So, let's take a look at the place. "The smell. Kakashi, Sakura and Naruto were here. The other smell, I don't know this person." I just nodded and looked for clues. Since I didn't find anything, I activated my Sharingan. Ha! I thought so. Itachi left a clue. I looked at it closely and then continued on my way with Shadow and Taka.

"Ely, there's another battlefield up ahead." "Taka, can you look at that and Shadow and I will go on?" "I will." Shadow and I ran on. "Shadow, can you smell them?" "Unfortunately, not yet. What about their chakra?" "I don't have anything yet either." I was slowly getting very worried.

I stopped for a moment and closed my eyes. Concentrate, you've practiced this so many times with Neji. Breathe in and out deeply. "There! I've found Naruto's and Kakashi's chakra. We have to hurry!"
