You hurried across the parking lot, heart still beating faster than it should've after such a tiny interaction. Reaching your car, you opened the passenger door and gently set all your grocery bags onto the seat, making sure nothing else decided to roll away today.
You let out a shaky breath, brushing your hair behind your ear as you dug into your bag for your keys. Once your fingers closed around them, you slipped into the driver's seat and started the car, eager to get home and escape any lingering embarrassment.
Pulling out of the parking spot, you tried to shake off the encounter, focusing on the road ahead. You had almost reached the exit of the lot when your phone buzzed against the console, lighting up with an incoming call.
Camie.
Of course. Perfect timing, as always.
You sighed softly and reached for the phone, ready to answer.
"HEY FAAAAM!" she screamed immediately, bursting with her usual over-the-top enthusiasm.
"Hey Cam." You chuckled with your hands on the wheel.
"So, 'bout the party on Thursday—do you already have a ride?" she asked, her voice buzzing with excitement.
"Well, yeah," you replied, keeping your eyes on the road. "I was planning to drive myself."
"Okay, hell no. Me and the girls are picking you up in a limo I rented."
Your grip on the wheel loosened as your eyes widened slightly. You glanced at your phone in disbelief. "You rented a limo?!"
"I got money, yo. I been a pro!" she bragged proudly.
You couldn't help but laugh. "I'm kinda surprised you haven't quit being a hero yet."
"Nah, fam, the gig is supa lit! I make bank."
You shook your head with an amused smile, turning your focus fully back to the road. "So, what time should I be ready?"
She paused for a second before answering. "Well, I got to pick up some other babes, sooo... be glammed up by 7:30."
"I'll make sure," you said with a smile, eyes still on the road ahead.
"Alright, I gotta leave ya, pooks. I gotta catch my nail appointment if I wanna attract some 10s."
"Okay, see you Thursday, Camie," you giggled.
"See ya, mamas!" she chirped before ending the call.
