The chatter and clinking of plates around you all blurred together into a low buzz as you let Momo guide you through the restaurant.
Your legs felt like they weren't fully yours-each step unsteady, like your body couldn't decide whether to fight, freeze, or flee.
You kept your head slightly down, eyes trained on the floor, trying not to catch anyone's gaze as your chest rose and fell unevenly.
Momo's arm stayed wrapped around your waist, firm but gentle, grounding you just enough to keep moving.
She murmured something-soft and reassuring-but the words didn't land.
They were muffled by the storm inside your head.
The warm lighting of the restaurant and soft music that once felt cozy now pressed on you, too loud, too bright, too much.
A couple of people at nearby tables glanced your way.
You caught someone's frown, the hint of concern in their face.
Your hand instinctively went to tuck your chest, hoping to hide more of yourself somehow.
Momo didn't flinch under the attention-her posture was calm, collected.
If anyone looked too long, they probably just assumed you'd had a little too much to drink, or weren't feeling well.
She leaned in just enough so only you could hear.
"You're okay," she said, her voice steady. "Almost there."
You just nodded once, your throat too tight to answer.
Just get to the restroom.
Just breathe.
Then, momo stopped for a second, standing outside the restroom door before cracking it open-the sudden quiet hit like a wave.
It was a stark contrast to the hum of life in the dining room-no laughter, no clinking silverware.
Momo didn't hesitate.
She gently guided you through the doorway, her steps careful and measured, like she was shielding you from everything outside.
