Some time had passed.

Not much, maybe ten or twenty minutes—but enough for the cold to start settling deeper into your cheeks and nose, and enough for Bakugo’s arm to feel completely natural wrapped around yours.

You’d stopped thinking about it, really.

His grip had eased, not loose but no longer tense.

He was skating beside you now, steadier, smoother.

No more stumbles.

No more clinging to the rail.

And then, out of the corner of your eye, you spotted the group.

Clustered near the far edge of the rink, just past one of the tall posts wrapped in twinkling string lights, were Mina, Jirou, Denki, Sero, and Kirishima—talking and laughing like they hadn’t just spent the last hour nearly wiping out.

You tugged gently on Bakugo’s arm, nodding toward them.

“Look,” you said, your voice soft and breath curling in the air. “Let’s join them.”

He let out a quiet tch, but didn’t argue.

That was all the confirmation you needed.

Your face lit up, warmth blooming in your chest as you started skating toward them, still around his arm.

The snow flurried lightly above, falling soft in the glow of the overhead lights, and your skates carved smooth little lines into the ice.

You didn’t even notice when your arm slipped from around him.

The moment felt too easy, too natural—like letting go was just part of the movement.

You glided ahead, and he followed behind, not needing support anymore.

Confident, steady, quiet.

But then, as you approached the group, you slowed.

Something was different.

Everyone’s posture was a little straighter.

Their attention a little too focused.
